The symbolism of the apple in ch 3 is that all of the apples look the same to everyone in the community but it looks different to Jonas. This could mean that Jonas is the only one that can see color. It all means since not all of the apples are the same he does not have to be.

Sneetches is like The Giver because when they talk about Jonas's light eyes it is like the green stars on the sneetches bellies. They are treated better than the sneetches with no stars. This is like the people with in Jonas's utopia with dark eyes. But everything in Jonas's utopia is supposed to be treated equally but some things are not just like some people are are people that make children and some peopleare doctors.

Some of the things that the utopia forbids is seeing someone without any clothes on. You can only see someone without their clothes if they are an elder or a new child. This is forbid for people of Jonas's age group for certain reasons like his age group going through stirrings. This is another thing for love it is band.

The Receiver's house is different then the rest of the houses in the community because he has great honor and needs his own place to think and his own place to live his life. He has these differences for example a lock on his door and a person that lets someone in because he can not have any stranger walking in to his dwelling.

The actual process of transmitting memorise is Jonas has to take his shirt off and the Giver reaches and puts his hands on Jonas's back and goes through his mind to find the memory that he wants to transmit. The first memory that Jonas gets is the memory of snow.

This quote means that Jonas did not know that there were people before him and other seasons and hills to go sledding on before he was born and that they were taken away. This is not a good way to live because kids and adults should all be aloud to enjoy the memory of sledding and the memory of snow.

Jonas was surprised when the Giver turned the speaker off and and locked the door because you can not do that in any other dwelling they do not have locks and they do not have buttons to turn off the speakers. Normal citizens do not have privacy in their home even though it is needed when getting older.

The first memory is snow. What he sees is himself on a sled going down a giant hill filled up with snow and he never wanted it to end but the ride did end and so did the memory. The second memory was the memory of sunlight. What he saw in the memory was the sun beaming down on him when he was laying on the nice soft and warm grass that felt nice on his body. The third memory was the memory that he want to end the memory of sunburn. In this memory he was still in the beam of sunlight but when ever he moved the crease in his arms or legs it would hurt or sting.

The title of the book The Giver is symbolic to the book because the book is about Jonas's life and his community and the way he live and how he is almost an adult at the ceremony of twelve when he gets his job. His job is the most important the the society. But the book is called The Giver because the person that is training Jonas's to do this job wants Jonas to call him the the The Giver as stated at the end of chapter eleven.
