The problem is that people in DACA are getting deported.DACA stands for Deferred action of childhood arrivals. This institution started in 2012 by former President Obama. The Program was started for children who were brought to America illegally by their parents at a young age. This affected many people under the age of 16 because children who did not have jobs or convicted for a felony were more likely to get deported. To be an eligible applicant to come to the U.S you have to be 16 years or older. Later Obama renamed DACA to the “Dream Act”. The Dream Act was more efficient and kids were more likely to become U.S citizens. In 2016 President Donald Trump wanted to end the DACA program and is currently planning to shut it down.

The community is affected because Jeff Sessions said that if DACA is shutdown, then 800,000 people will be deported and have to go back to an assigned country. People without an application are not allowed to come to DACA. If DACA is shut down people will not be able to attend work or college. If the dreamers are deported they will be sent to a country that is not their original country and they will suffer.

The rest of the world should be concerned about this issue because the countries that send people through DACA, such as Mexico, feel safe and connected. But since Trump wants to shut down DACA, The Dreamers are making a stand by protesting, since the Dreamers will go to a different country and might be separated from their family. They have it really hard, they will have to learn a new culture and customs.

A few months after Jeff Sessions announced DACA was being shut down Washington D.C and 15 other states filed a lawsuit. The states that signed the Lawsuit are Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, New Mexico, New York and a few others. People from all around the world that were not in DACA had an opinion too. The most common response to the question “Do you think that DACA should end was “The decision to end DACA is cruel and unlawful". But there are other Lawsuit saying that DACA is unconstitutional and that dreamers are illegal and ruining American jobs and reputation. It is still a fluid situation.

My name is Tasha and I am a teenage girl. I came to America from Mexico which means I am a Mexican immigrant. When I was 5 years old I walked across the border separating Mexico from Arizona. My parents and I wanted a fresh start, a new beginning. When I came to Arizona I had nothing.I did not have a car, I had torn, ripped clothing and shoes with holes in them. It was my Senior year in high school and with all these sad things happening in my life I am never late to school and I have excellent grades. My Mama and Papa are both in DACA and now that I am old enough, I am thinking about filling out an application for DACA too. I knew I would have a better life in America because of all the good things I have, such as an education, new clothing and to live in America. Everyday I am more grateful because when I was five I remember having to dig through dumpsters to find food. I also remembered that I had to work in the fields for hours a day. At my old school people would bully me and say I was weird or different because of the white splotches I had on my skin. But at my new high school people treat me like a normal high school girl. One night I was watching the news with my Mama and Papa when Trump announced that they were going to shutdown DACA I was scared that I would get thrown out of the U.S and have to go back to Mexico. Not only was I scared the worst part was that I had trouble speaking English. I just filled out a DACA form and I could learn how to speak English, but now I have no chance. The next day I got an acceptance letter the the college I wanted to go to, and now that I am in college learning to speak English and happy to be an American citizen.
