Affordable Housing

Who are the people involved? (Government, Slum residents, Non-profit organisations, Low-income households, Elderly)
Affordable housing is definedby the United Nations as housing that is priced at a reasonable cost such that residents still have money for other basic needs, such as food.
Financial schemes are also available to subsidise the cost of flats.

What is it about?
It is deemed affordable to those with a median household income as rated by the national government or a local government by a recognized housing affordability index.

What are some examples and was it successful?

What are some of the possible challenges?
- personal security, quiet and privacy, especially for sleeping
-safekeeping of bedding, clothing and posessions, which may have to be carried out at all times
- hygiene and shaving facilities
-cleaning and drying clothes
- obtaining, preparing and storing food in small quantities
- keeping contacts, without a permanent location or mailing address
- hostility and legal powers against urban vagrancy

Another example is shop houses as currently people do not go to these type of places compared to shopping malls and other outlets, and shop houses originated from China and was first built during the 1840s-1900s along Southen North New Bridge Road.

The seniors are strongly encourage to spend time at these centres as they interact and excecise with other elderly. 
    There are also some facilities and amenities for different groups of population across all ages, like corridors in residential developments need to have a minimum width of 1.5 meters so that people using Mobility aids, like wheelchairs, can have easier access into the centres.
