  • This moment has to change the overall plot of the opera. 
  • You must get approval from me of the scene/opera that you have chosen.
  • This assignment requires that you each write an essay about why you chose the scene that you chose and how it affects the plot/changes the story. 
  • This will become a presentation (minimum of 5 minutes) where you describe the original plotline/morals, and why you made the changes/what the new moral of the story is. 
  • Include what you believe the composers opinion would be of your edit.

  • You must watch the opera that you have chosen.
  • Be sure to include relevant information from the time:
  • Where was this opera premiered? How was it received at the time from other critics? What was the composers relationships to this location?
  • You will be presenting these to the class as well as defending the choices you made: both in the opera you chose and what your critiques were.

  • You will write a news article about the performer/diva that you chose detailing how the performance went and your informed opinions about the performer.
  • Include pictures of them performing in this opera and other ones(if possible).
