On December 7th, 1941, the Bombing of Pearl Harbor happened. The Bombing of Pearl Harbor was when the Japanese Navy launched a surprise bomb attack on the US base in Hawaii. This date is important because it led to other important events like the 2 bombings that American did to Japan as a result. The turning point of this event would be the battle of Midway where America got more involved with the war after Japan's attack.

On August 28th, 1963, Martin Luther King gave his "I Have A Dream" speech. MLK gave his speech to speak about his demands from the Civil Rights Movement. This date is important to US History not only because it led to more changes in America at the time, but also because of the large impact that it has on the world up until now. The impact that his speech had was that sparked the movement for equality, it helped to create the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act, and it eventually helped to end racial segregation in the US.

On January 1st, 1863, the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. The Emancipation Proclamation is when slavery was ended. The importance of this date is shown through all the effects that came from it after. The changes that came with the Emancipation Proclamation is that it changed the focus of the Civil War. It changed the purpose of the war into a war for freedom.

On October 29th, 1929, the Stock Market crashed and it became known as "Black Tuesday." The Stock Market Crash eventually led to the Great Depression. With the Great Depression, there were many after effects. FDR's New Deal was inputted and there were many changes within the government. With the changes in the government, it played a key role in the economic and social affairs within America. New lifestyles also appeared since people couldn't afford to live in houses. This also led to global economic issues as well. The importance of it is that it led to the government looking at the issues with different economic systems and made changes to prevent it from happening again.

On December 2nd, 1823, the Monroe Doctrine was issued. The Monroe Doctrine is known as US' policy towards the Western Hemisphere. The purpose of this doctrine is to prevent European powers from colonizing anymore land in America. The importance of this doctrine is that it not only gave America a new identity as a growing power at the time, but it also led to America wanting to expand their land even more. This may have even led to other events that involved Americans fighting with the Spanish to take their land.
