When you are analysing language, don't overcomplicate things and try to teach all the uses of a language point. Consider what function you are teaching (the message you want to communicate) and how best to encourage learners to practise this.

Make GOOD notes during class and ORGANISE them well.

What Clare and Tonia teach you is priceless, particularly when you start teaching! I suggest having a ring binder folder, adding your notes to it from a refill pad as you progress through the CELTA course. Ensure you have titled each page so it makes for easy referencing.

Organisation of work - 3 large Lever Arch Files, 1 for TP's, 1 for Assignments, 1 for classwork with Clare and Tonia (and any other) Observe your fellow tutees closely - you will learn from them, don't judge them too early on, we all learn and grow throughout the course. Pin down your "student" early on and try to gauge their commitment to coming to class so you are confident they will be there to work with over the following weeks. Email yourself a copy of your TP and lesson materials as back up to your USB/power failure. Allow a minimum of 1 but preferably 2 days a week over and above your course day to keep on top of everything. Enjoy!

Reflect on your teaching practice. Observe other teachers and discuss with them the rational behind the activities they used in the classroom. Go back to your classroom and apply/use one of the activities you found the most engaging. If it doesn't work, try it again.
In my opinion, reflection and obeservation are the key points for a successful lesson planning and teaching.
