A few centuries ago marriage had almost nothing to do with love. When a baby was born, the family immediately designated the consort. It would usually be someone who was in the same or in a higher social level. The only thing that mattered was keeping the family’s status. As a result marriage was more like a contract than the utterance of love. Because of the loveless marriages it was almost normal to have a lover besides their wives/ husbands.

From the past century this conception has changed. Normally people are married by love and not by money. They start a family and live happily ever after. At least this would be the best. But let’s not forget about divorce.

In former times divorce was completely unacceptable. But nowadays? Well, sadly it’s getting normal. According to Michigan Bar Journal if one-half of all marriages will divorce, then statistically if not culturally, divorce is normal. People get married more easily, because they think that if it turns out that it wasn’t the right choice, they can simply divorce. Maybe it’s not a big deal for the couple, but if they share a child, divorce certainly leaves a huge wound on the kid’s soul and it determines his/ her whole life.

Back int the day husbands had the role to maintain their families. Today, it’s a different story. Many more women are now educated, and entering the workforce and so can take care of their needs with or without a man. In many instances, women even find themselves earning even more than their husbands.

As a result, the role of marriage had changed during the centuries. In the 21stcentury, it’s more like a root of starting a family than a lifelong relationship.

I totally agree with your statement. Couples should find out that they really love each other or not. Nowdays divorcing is kind of cool for some people. In my opinin it is gonna be worst for years, unfortunatelly...
