In this unit it did open my eyes up to the world of choreography and what it entails and I feel like I didn’t do as well as it could have gone, I could have been more prepared in what I was choreographing. Looking at my stimulus I didn’t know where to start and I really stugged to think of any ideas but then I picked out the object that the girl had in the picture which was a suitcase so I took that idea and used that ad my connection to my stimulus, I began experimenting with the suitcase and trying to move it round and began to figure out some of the movements and thinking about which part of the dance I would want it in. I feel that I put myself into the deep end by giving myself a prop to use onstage. Giving myself a prop to use also gave me inspiration and gave me ideas in way to use it. 

At this point I hadn’t come up or found a song that matched the vison I had in my mind. When I eventually found a song that was called time and it was featured in a film called inception, I liked it and chose that as I was a instrumental song and it added tension to the piece of movement. I became enjoying experimenting with the music and with using a prop, I did chose to fill my suitcase with things that meant a lot to me, my first baby blanket that was knitted for me, a teddy bear some cards from my first birthday as I wanted to represent my past, I originally wanted to represent a ‘broken home’ all of the different emotions  that come with a parent separation and the decisions that would have been made and how they would have effected everyone in different ways.  But I felt that I would have been able to pull it off within the dance so I went with something along the lines of that story line and work on what I could having all of the props inside the suitcase, I feel that I was able to work well with the props. Throughout the process I feel that I could have pushed my self with the choreography and pushed my boundaries. I could have let myself go and thing outside the box when it came to choreograph on myself. 

Once I had pick a song I feel that it was a lot easier to choreograph to and piece the movement together. I was able to piece the movement faster than another dances i have done before. I do feel that I could have started choreographing earlier just so that I could think more about what each movement is or what my focus would be within the dance itself rather than just piecing moves together to make a dance. I would defiantly make more rehearsal time while I have the space available to me. So that I could rehearse on my own with no one else in the room and try new things with my props. Choreographing isn’t my strongest part and going through out this process was something different and I was worried that I was going to be able to choreograph as well as I did and including a number of props was another big factor as I haven really looked at using props in a dance before. 

After choreographing I had to start thinking about what I wanted to wear and I didn’t know what would suit the performance, in the end I had a few option but in the end I wore a long white skirt and a ping top tucked in, something similar to the woman in the stimulus. I wanted to really connect with what the stimulus was telling me and I feel the costume and the props were the only way I could relate to the stimulus. Overall, I feel that I did well in this unit but I feel that I could have done so much better with the way I organised things and made my time management my priority. If I was to do this again I would try and be as productive as possible and try and think out of the box more and think about the things I could actually do with the props I had in the suitcase.
