When I realized that this is a big thing, I was thinking that it would be over in about 3 to 4 weeks and everything would be back to normal again. I thought everyone was overreacting when we were forced to go into quarantine. I then realized that this was a big deal. It impacted my life a ton, in a bad way. We weren’t allowed to see our friends, we weren’t allowed to go to sleep away camp, and my hockey practice and games were cancelled for a long time which made me rusty. It made sense to me, but I didn’t want to believe it. I wanted to go outside and have fun and live my life normally, if that’s even a word anymore. My family responded just how I did. In shock of what was happening, because this is history. This was something I never would have expected and I cannot wait until COVID-19 is 100% over with and things could go back to the way they were. . . for the most part. My Bar Mitzvah was September 7th, 2019. My friend Aaron, on the other hand, had his Bar Mitzvah postponed for months, because his birthday is March 11th. Because of COVID, the last vacation I took was over the Christmas of 2019. Me and my family went to Utah and went skiing. We usually go on vacation every Christmas, but we couldn’t because of COVID-19. We stayed in the house more, while we were having some quality family bonding time, we were also going crazy. I cannot wait until this is all over with. The pandemic really helped me realize how annoying my little brother was. I was spending so much time with him in the house it was driving me crazy. Other than that I was somewhat stable. It was like getting off a roller coaster that was one minute long that you waited 30 minutes for in line. I was stuck at home with nothing to do forever besides play some madden and NHL 20/21 on my x box. Besides that, I hated everything that was happening. I couldn’t go to my hockey practices, my hockey games, The Florida Panthers’s hockey games, the Miami Dolphins’s football games. A: At first I didn’t believe it and the president covered it up and I had no idea of the magnitude it would turn out to be.

Q: Did you think people were over-reacting or under-reacting?
A: I think people were under-reacting because people thought that they didn’t have to wear masks and didn’t abide to the rules and safety precautions of staying same from COVID.

Q: How is today different from when the pandemic first happened for you, your family, the nation, and the world?
A: Can’t go out on vacations like we used to, up until a few weeks ago we couldn’t go to restaurants, we cannot socialize with our friends, and the traveling as changed dramatically, your grandmother and I took cruises every year, but I cannot anymore.

Q: Did you have to cancel any major events like a vacation, a Bar Mitzvah, etc. because of the pandemic?
A: We don’t know what we are going to do about Ronan’s [my brother] Bar Mitzvah because of the pandemic, I had to change my vacation in December because of it, our birthday last year with your mom in 2020 we were planning on going to Hard Rock but that was cancelled, and for the first time in 40 years, we had to celebrate our birthday on zoom.

Q: How has your life changed since first going on quarantine last year?

A: Yes, we cancelled our birthday celebration in 2020.
