SCHEDULES AND ROUTINES
We need to set them up so we can always be FLEXIBLE to go from distance learning to blended to F2F (this is not only for now - the world after this is moving to that direction). This is why a system like the Modern Classroom Project will help us stay in the loop. Parents are already asking me if distance learning will be an option for the future - some families who have more than one house or who travel LOVE it. They would like school to be F2F, but with the option to do distance learning when needed. We are in the private sector who will start providing it. For example, Stanford a pioneer is already the #1 online HS.
Also, this works really well for students with needs since they have the option to re-enforce concepts at home with instructional videos from their teachers not a tutor who does not know the school curriculum - the tutor/ parent can be better informed of how to support outside school.

I'm just thinking about the things that were difficult during eLearning...
* Workload for students and teachers.
- I think that the Modern Classroom Project will help a ton with this. Especially if teams take on a certain subject area to plan. For students they will have very clear expectations of their work and it will stay consistent F2F or online.
* Feedback
- In the classroom, we give a lot of verbal feedback. I felt like I had to give feedback on everything the students did which took a lot of time. Feedback is super important but I would like to find a more consistent way to offer feedback.
- Jacob sent our team this and it cleared many things up for me.
https://catlintucker.com/

* Content/Curriculum
- We have to remember that students will take longer when working at home. I worry about "getting through" curriculum vs. mastery of the power standards.
*Parent Communication
- This will be huge. I sent a lot of emails and made a lot of parent videos. These were both helpful to the parents but also they took a lot of time on my end. Like Megan was saying, a parent handbook of some sort would be awesome!

Schedules:
Teacher's should collaborate together to configure a F2F schedule that lends itself to a blended style learning. I think the workshop model and Daily 5 can be perfect for this. Ex:
7:45-8:00 Morning routines
8:00- 8:20 Rotation/station 1 (students are: working with teacher, working on independent activities, reading to self/partner, etc.)
8:20-8:35 Whole group: Read aloud
8:37-8:57 Rotation/station 2
etc, etc.

Immediately decide how we are sharing schedules with parents. What format? How are we sharing them with students and parents? When are we sending them out?

*Start looking at first unit and recall the power standards, decide the most important objectives, skills & goals, and decide what to omit. Teachers should repeat this process with each new unit.

* Teachers should collaborate together to come up with common icons they will use to convey meaning (especially since they will be dividing up the teaching lessons, with each other), especially for the younger students. Some icons to be taught are the ones that Seesaw uses (pencil for drawing, camera to take a picture, video to create a video, etc.).
