It means to me he basic concept of my culture "Vasudev Kutumbhkam" which is a sanskrit word and means the world is my family. For me it is to see the length and breadth of world from my tiny eye and be amazed at the fact that the light of my vision travels across the world. I and my actions cause an effect in the world and in turn they are affected by the world.

A global citizen is one who can think beyond the microscopic view of his or her state, country, religion , caste etc. It means to be able to accept things and analyse them rationally. It is a ground where we do not judge things as right and wrong but try and understand the perspective it comes from or gives us.

Biology and other group 4 subjects are not taught today with a reference point of concept. It is taught as a history of it, that tells us the various people across the world who contributed to build that concept. It is taught as a cause an effect , where the actions of a particular nation affects the climate of others, it is taught as a tool for development of mankind, where discoveries have led to the benefit to all across all boundaries.

The folklore, culture , traditions and practices all revolve around building a keen sense of the environment to such an extent that we work towards protecting it.
Also in any topic of science that we study it tells us about the contribution from all across the world in terms of knowledge that acted as a base for others to develop or modify that knowledge or to utilise it as an application.

In biology the topics of health, nutrition, ecology, environment, evolution, biodiversity, climate change etc cannot be taught in isolation. The topics involve the act of moving beyond a certain place and analyse causes and effects.
In the classroom however , only the facts can be presented but an atmosphere to analyse them rationally gives students an opportunity to put themselves in the shoes of others .it can also give them a window to reflect on the merits and demerits of various things to a particular place and the entire world so that they can apply it in their lives later.

A short video that i often show students imbibes in them the fact that we are more to the world than we think......
