This movie displays the war for power during the Cuban Missile Crisis in the Cold War. In this case, crisis policy is used to deal with the threat of missiles in Cuba. After capturing images of nuclear missiles in Cuba, JFK and his advisors set out to find a way to resolve this crisis. This is a struggle for power between the United States and Russia because it is a test to see which country would blink first and withdraw their nuclear weapons from locations near to the other country. Though Russia had positioned missiles in Cuba, most people don't realize that we had already put missiles in Turkey, giving the same effect.

Wargames is a film that follows a high-schooler that accidentally hacks into a computer that controls the nation's nuclear arsenal. After accidentally triggering the computer to show that there is an eminent attack from Russia, the retaliatory attacks that almost occurred before the computer was stopped is an example of war as accident. Once again, the response to the sudden eminent attack was answered by crisis policy. An eminent attack by Russia certainly qualifies as an emergency, which is best managed by crisis policy.

The plot of War Horse follows a single horse throughout World War 1, first being sold to the British calvary, then changing owners to a few different militaries, including Germany, until eventually being found by his original owner in trench warfare in France. World War 1 was at least in part, caused by a lack of anything to prevent it from happening. Several countries were engaging in alliances with other countries, but there were two separate factions that became prevalent that forced a war between two countries to escalate into a war between most of Europe. In the beginning of WW1, the U.S. practiced the idea of isolationism, in that we decided not to engage in the growing war until we realized that the winner of the European war would then have the ability to take over America as well. After this realization, we honored an old alliance with Britain to have a reason to engage in the war. World War 1 drastically changed the way the U.S. conducted itself on the world stage and greatly increased our activity abroad.
