Once again, the response to the sudden eminent attack was answered by crisis policy. World War 1 was at least in part, caused by a lack of anything to prevent it from happening. Several countries were engaging in alliances with other countries, but there were two separate factions that became prevalent that forced a war between two countries to escalate into a war between most of Europe. In the beginning of WW1, the U.S. practiced the idea of isolationism, in that we decided not to engage in the growing war until we realized that the winner of the European war would then have the ability to take over America as well. After this realization, we honored an old alliance with Britain to have a reason to engage in the war.
