اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْبَرَصِ، وَالْجُنُونِ، وَالْجُذَامِ، وَمِنْ سَيِّئِ الأَسْقَامِ

"O Allah, I seek refuge in You from leprosy, insanity, elephantiasis, and the worst of diseases."

 

I lift my heart to thee

And I pray for the people of all nations,

Irrespective of race, colour or creed.

I realize they are all thy servants,

And I therefore link them up together in my heart

And my prayers as such.

I pray for the disquited souls of man,

Both discarnate and incarnate.

I pray for those who are sorrowful and lonely;

For the unloved;

For those who feel themselves unwanted;

For those broken by life;

I pray, O Lord, for ALL humanity.

I pray for those in prisons,

Those in asylums;

Those who are bedridden at home or in a hospital;

Those who are hungry;

Those who have a terminal illness;

I pray for all of the caregivers who tend the sick,

And I pray for all of the families of these people

Asking that they be given the strength,

Endurance,

Resourcefulness

And upliftment to continue their quest.

I ask thy care of those on battlefields of the world

Who at the call of duty are now away from loved ones,

On land, on sea and in the air.

I pray for those who mourn the loss of dear ones

Who are preparing for their transition

Or have passed on from the physical life.

Be with them, O Lord,

And bring them the knowledge

That there is no death –

That life goes on forever.

And, I would ask that I myself may be a pure channel

To give forth thy love to one another.

I pray that thy blessings

And thy joy may rest upon the world

In the coming of peace to all of Your servants.

Amen.

Here is one dua in Arabic from the hadith which can be recited for protection from illness, diseases, or calamity:

 اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي دِينِي وَدُنْيَاىَ وَأَهْلِي وَمَالِي اللَّهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَاتِي وَآمِنْ رَوْعَاتِي وَاحْفَظْنِي مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَىَّ وَمِنْ خَلْفِي وَعَنْ يَمِينِي وَعَنْ شِمَالِي وَمِنْ فَوْقِي وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي 
Translation: O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in this world and in the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religious and my worldly affairs. O Allah, conceal my faults, calm my fears, and protect me from before me and behind me, from my right and my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in You from being taken unaware from beneath me.

Translation: Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs

At this time of pandemic,

Let us foster respect and solidarity with others, especially those who are weak or poor.

Let us remain calm and ignore unsubstantiated rumours.

Let us take advantage of living together as a family.

Let us attend to moments of prayer.

Let us cultivate responsibility, patience and hope.

AMEEN.

Help us to find ways, without self-pity, to enjoy life alongside those who are fortunate enough to be still working and to understand what kind of help we need to give one another in this time of great stress, confusion and challenge.

Guide the leaders of our city, county, State and Nation, so that they may make decisions and create policies that will benefit and sustain us, our families, friends, and all society, decisions which are rooted in Christ’s vision of the dignity of work; in justice, and compassion.

Finally, Lord, I ask you to guide us and everyone in the sure and certain knowledge that we all have an intrinsic worth in ourselves, in the very fibre of our being, and that we are all of equal value in your eyes, through Jesus Christ Our Lord.

To all those who have lost their loved ones due to the Coronavirus outbreak,

we convey our deepest sympathies.

We pray that their souls, through God’s mercy, may rest in eternal peace.

We pray that God may grant all bereaved families his consolation and strengthen their faith and hope in Jesus Christ, the Risen Lord.

The pandemic has already resulted in death of over 250,000 people, the infection of almost four million, and the confinement to their homes and lockdown of two thirds of humanity .Even those who have not got the virus– like migrant labourers , daily wage earners , the unemployed and other poor – as we see in India, have been very severely affected. Millions of them are still seen walking long distances to return to their native places. The sudden lockdown the night of 24/25 March and the total suspension of public transport has 
destroyed their livelihood; deaths due to fatigue and starvation are being reported from all over. Social media has been highlighting the plight of the least of our sisters and brothers.

I pray for all leaders of governments and the United Nations to surrender to God to be their wisdom and authority in all decisions to lead humanity towards redemption. To follow God's word to be stewards of this Earth for all.

I will say of the Lord, ‘You are my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust’. 

God of power and might we lift our brothers and sisters in India to you. 

We pray for your protection, 

We pray for your provision, 

We pray for the nations of earth to have compassion. 

When people are in need, you are our refuge. 

When people are scared, you are our refuge. 

When people are mourning, you are our refuge. 

Compassionate God, draw close to those who seek your refuge today.
