In addition to that, he also wanted to show that not only are the Mexicans rebelling against the cartel, but even people across the U.S border are coming together to fight. The interviews with cartel members, autodefensas members/leaders, and U.S. patrol groups helped achieve the purpose by examining every side of the problem. It did not leave out any side of the issue which makes it not biased. Heineman uses interviews with leaders of each group to capture different views. He achieves his purpose on showing everyone how the problem wont end by interviewing people on every side and looking through each groups eyes. He shows the cartels side in interviews asking why they do what they do and they respond because they have to in order to survive. He asks them why they dont stop and they say they cant because its all they know/can do. Matthew shows how it wont end when he shows footage of Mexican government backing cartel activity. It made me realize the corruption cartel activity has had on mexico and its people. It made me somewhat understand why immigrants sneak in to get out of that life. I think people should be able to protect themselves from cartels but not hunt them. I think the people in the U.S. should be allowed to hunt them coming across the border. I think it is the Mexican governments fault for not controlling drug production and allowing cartels to infiltrate the government.
