Many teenagers and foreigners like to come to this place to get souvenirs,  cheap yet trendy clothings where you can bargain at a lower price and also tasty street food.

It is usually crowded in the late afternoon to night.

What’s more exciting is that many stalls here are operated by youngsters. The former boy’s school still retains most of its colonial structures with some changes and so to accommodate the gift shops and restaurants there. This combination of two different time periods creates a unique paradox that allows visitors of the museum to experience a part of each at the same time

The use of the bright colours can be linked back to Peranakan roots (correct me if I’m wrong) while not using the common colours. We had concluded that it is a stylistic choice to do so in a way to have a modern take in a traditional style. The Bar is what greets you at the entrance. Its counter is a thick slab of light wood that sits atop a white-bricked wall, leading into, curiously, a Nordic-inspired, hipster-ised space with streamlined, stainless steel lampshades. A chalkboard, and artist-rendered walls of menus and delicate motifs, form the backdrop.

There are also graffiti art and murals on the walls which showcases the character of Haji Lane which influence design to be more bold and giving it’s character of the place.
