She and her mom and siblings go to Lucky diggins, California. She does chores like cooking hunting and dishes and educating Butte. She lives hard life and has more challenges ahead” living in a tent with no privacy or education. Lucy is determined to go back to Massachusetts. So she haches a plan, little after she meets a man with no name. She becomes friends with him but her mother doesn't want him to stay in the boarder house because he's a man of color. Then a religious guy name brother Clyde comes for a bed ,  ma Doesn't like religious men because after the death of Lucy's father the men who were to bury him because he was religious and the dad wasn't, so ma hated brother Clyde because he was religious but one day butte falls into the river and Clyde saved him so then ma likes him as he saved her son. After Butte falls in the river he never really recovers as he is sick lying around weaker and worse every day he can't take it any more and dies. His death really touches Lucy hearts and gives her the courage she never had and that courage is to stand up to her mother little after Clyde Claymore asks ma if she would be his wife and ma say yes, she also agrees to go to the sandwich islands with him. 3) "dag diggety" is a saying that they use in the diggings, and it's kind of a curse, and isn't that polite.

Lucy has a heart and in time she doesn't always to the right thing but always end up doing every body good.

This shows that Lizzie is curious because she showed Lucy the field, and she only could've showed Lucy the field if she had found it, and she only could have found it if she was looking around, and she only would have looked around if she was curious, 'cause if she wasn't curious she wouldn't have looked at all. There for Lizzie is curious.
