QUARTER 1: IRMA GOD! ITS A HURRICANE

My name is the Lorax, and I speak for the trees...or what's left of them. A Category 5 Hurricane, Irma wiped out thousands of trees and vegetation across the entire state of Florida in September 2017. Due to the drastic climate change that has been occurring over the past few years, extreme weather conditions such as hurricanes have been the tragic result, leaving lesser developed nations such as Puerto Rico and the Caribbean Islands with no electricity or clean drinking water for days. This climate change is a result from human production of CO2 creating bad ozone gases in the atmosphere, ultimately breaking down our good ozone layer (the one that protects us from the ultraviolet rays the Sun gives off) which warms the Earth. The cycle of effects can be more hurricanes, dryer and hotter climates (which can lead to fires), and the melting of ice caps (which raises the sea levels). Since the earth is getting hotter, we are expected to see more strong hurricanes being formed in the Atlantic and ultimately do some major damage to the ecological environment as seen in this picture and human made facilities.

QUARTER1: PUT ON YOUR ASTRONAUT SUITS, WE'RE GOING SWIMMING IN ALGAE!

My name is the Lorax and...I...can't...breathe! I was just chillin' by the junior lot protecting my tree friends and was caught off guard by this lake! Algae is growing on the surface of the water blocking the oxygen from the plants and animals inside of the water, which prevents photosynthesis and ultimately kills off or drives away all of the fish. After guarding my trees everyday, I've noticed that very few animals live in this area. That is also because of the pollution, run off, and trash thrown into the lake, many of which float on the surface of the algae or sink to the bottom. This type of pollution prevents the lake from being a healthy and thriving habitat for animals and even humans. The pungent smells emitted from the lake make me want to gag! Fish can't live there, nor humans.

Watch out, ladies and gents, we've got a killer on the loose! The curly tailed lizard has spread rapidly all over south Florida since its introduction in the 1940s. It was originally supposed to get rid of the insects and bugs eating the sugarcane, however it started breeding faster than anticipated, competing with and preying on native plants and animals such as the green anole, which happen to be very good friends of mine! They disturb my rest, climbing up my tree, which makes me very angry! If you have any more information, please call 1-800-LORAX to receive your large sum of vegan pizza!

My name is the Lorax and I speak for the mountains! These corporations are blowing up the tops of my beautiful mountains in search of coal, emitting gases and toxic wastes into the environment. The health consequences resulting from this are cancer, lung problems, and brain tumors, causing many deaths among children, teens, and adults. One study even showed that autism can be linked to coal mining, a record number of 8 children all having autism in a small town near a mining site. Instead, in order to prevent these from occurring, it is important for corporations to either find an alternative use of energy, like wind turbines, or a site where no humans or wildlife live. Save the Appalachian Mountains from being blown up!
