I have started doing a "commuting walk", where I start and end my work day with a walk around the neighborhood. This is my time to clear my headspace of everything else going on and feels like I am getting to and leaving the office (even if the office is my home)! Plus it ensures I am exercising every day! :)

Coordinated staffing- fewer, better aligned projects with more time.

It would really help to have coordinated staffing, within D3 overall and across WestEd, that takes into account how much time a project role will actually take when allocating time to a person for the role. Our group felt that often there are too many people on projects will smaller allocations of time, and everyone is trying to split their mental power among 6-10 projects each, which is so difficult! Fewer projects per person would help us dedicate more effort to the projects we do have. Also, aligning upcoming projects more carefully with interests and skills of our colleagues, so that we feel like we have opportunities ready in the future for us, rather than being afraid to say no to projects that don't align with our interests for fear of being under-covered. It is decidedly not an easy problem to solve, we know, but it would do wonders for staff well being!
