• What sort of things have made you envious recently?

I find myself envious of people who can maintain a consistent workout routine without interruptions from life’s demands.

• What was your first summer job?

I worked as a waiter in a restaurant in Marmaris, Türkiye.

• If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you like to go?

I would love to snorkel at Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. I have been fascinated by it for many years. I love the sea and the ocean, although I am not generally a fan of nature overall.

• What is your favorite TV show?

There are too many to count, but the first that comes to mind is Mindhunter on Netflix. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Three works of art that mean a lot to me are- The book Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur it is filled with beautiful poems, The song Lucerne by Richy Mitch and the Coal Miners it gives me goosebumps and the artworks by Duy Huynh, my favorite painting is Suspension of disbelief, his work is beautiful and dreamlike and I love his technique.

I recently had surgery and I am limited to the confines of what my body can do right now. I am envious of others who can move so freely, mostly envious of what I use to be able to do.

My first summer job was in 1993 and I worked at a canning factory. I bought my first car with the money I earned.

I would probably like to go somewhere with a clean and private beach. Maybe Orca Island. My late best-friend loved it there and I have never been. It would be cool to see what he loved.

My favorite TV show is Bob's Burgers and I tend to watch that, New Girl and The Great North on a loop, when I do watch TV.

Three works of art that mean a lot to me are Cuban music, especially salsa and son, which connect me to my roots; baseball as a cultural sport, because it represents passion and teamwork; and literature about resilience and migration, since those stories reflect my own journey.

Something that has made me a bit envious recently is seeing people with full health and mobility, because after my stroke in 2017 I live with physical limitations. Still, I take that feeling as motivation to keep moving forward and to show that challenges do not define us.

My first steady jobs in the U.S. were with Wisconsin Hospitality Group and Lavigne Bus Company, where I worked for more than 23 years.

If I could go anywhere in the world, I would love to travel and experience different cultures, with Spain being one of my dream destinations.

Finally, my favorite TV shows are sports programs, especially baseball games, since baseball has always been my passion.

of people who can learn very quickly, because I need to practice something multiple times to get the hang of it and feel comfortable.

What was your first summer job?

My first summer job was at an ice-cream shop on the beach.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you like to go?

I would choose Europe or Hawaii.

What is your favorite TV show?

I don't have a specific TV show that is my favorite, but I enjoy watching documentaries.

The Wizard of Oz is a childhood favorite of mine. Recently, I saw a play at the Fireside where I interpreted the story in a way that exposed clarity in my life. I am now understanding why I have grown up loving it so much. Another piece of art that I consider a favorite of mine is a painting (originally a photograph by Eric Enstrom) called "Grace" by Rhonda Nyberg. My grandparents had the painting hanging in their kitchen above their kitchen table. Seeing the painting brings me comfort and reminds me of how much I have to be thankful for. Lastly, the song Forever After All by Luke Combs brings me a lot of happiness as it is the song my husband and I danced to on our wedding day at the front of the boat we were married on.

Recently, I have felt envious of those who own their own home. However, I have been working very hard at not feeling envious. I want to trust in my path and leave my envy at the front door.

My first summer job was cleaning the Hull Mansion in Monona located on the lake. The owner at the time of Pooh Bear Childcare hired me to clean her home. That was the first and last time I had been in a home of that size. I spent many years cleaning her home every week. I also helped with catering events.

If I could go anywhere in the world and ensure my safety I would love to go to the center of the Bermunda Triangle.

At this moment my favorite T.V. show is Welcome to Plathville. I have been watching the show since it started and find it interesting how a large family who is deeply rooted in christ navigates life as their lives change.

I really enjoy county music of all kinds. I listen to old country and new. My favorite decade of county music is probably the 90's. Every year I enjoy making memories and going to concerts with my friends and family. An artist that reminds me of my childhood is Johnny Cash because my father played his music a lot when I was growing up. A book that I related to when I was in middle school was titled, Fish in a Tree. I don't have a specific example of a painting that means a lot to me, but I have great memories of my grandma taking me to the Milwaukee art museum and appreciating the works of art there.

Some things that have made me jealous are people who have their health in order; however, I am happy for them! I am working on getting my health back and it is a journey.

My first summer job was working with one of my best friends at our local pool as a lifeguard.

I would love to go to Italy or Greece. The pictures look so beautiful, and I think that the food would also be delicious.

My favorite TV show changes based on my mood. However, I also like a reality TV show or a true crime documentary. Right now, I enjoy watching Below Deck.

One work of art I really like is anything rock music-related. I love going to concerts and listening to music while relaxing, playing a game, reading a book, even while I'm typing my intro. My favorite band right now is Breaking Benjamin. Especially their song "I Will Not Bow". It talks about resilience, perseverance, and defiance against adversity, encouraging listeners to stand strong and stay true to themselves rather than giving in to despair or conforming to others' expectations. I would say another form of art that I really like are tattoos. Tattoos can express so much in one small area and mean so much for the person who has it. On my favorite tattoo show, Ink Master, they had a client who wanted a tattoo to show they had a gambling challenge and went to recovery after they realized they had a problem. My last favorite form of art has to be the Zodiac Legacy series by Stan Lee, the creator of Marvel. It's my favorite because I love how the series is about a group of people who get powers based on their Chinese zodiac signs and have an element of Marvel in it. Also, it was Stan Lee's last series that he wrote before he passed away. So, to me, it has sentimental value.

One thing that has made me envious lately is seeing people I used to go to school with either in happy relationships or just graduating from college and getting everything they want. I'm still working on finding my future partner and, two years ago, finding out what I want to do for a career. I know I will get those eventually, but it's just the feeling of wanting those now.

My first job was working at O'Connell's Good Neighbor Liquor on Parmenter Street in Middleton when I was 16 years old. I worked there with my mom while she was recovering from a shoulder surgery. All I did was stock, face, and pull forward products.

If I had to choose to go anywhere, it would be either Greece, Germany, or Norway. Greece, because I think it's beautiful there and want to experience the culture and see all the stuff related to the Greek gods. Germany and Norway for the same reasons, but also to see where my ancestors came from.

Finally, I would say my favorite TV show would be The Fosters. I love the show because of the story it tells about the family in the show, and it honestly inspired me to pursue this field and want to be a social worker.

The first work of art I wanted to share with y'all that is supremely important to me is Mac Miller's mixtape "Faces". This mixtape had been helping me through difficult moments sense it came out in 2014. I even have some of the lyrics to the song "Grand Finale" tattooed on my leg. The mixtape takes you through the ups and downs of Mac's own substance use disorder. The second art piece I wanted to share with you all is the book "Dopamine Nation" by Anna Lembke. I read this book when my partner was just starting his recovery journey, and it really inspired my own my consideration of my relationship with my dopamine balance. Although Lembke's ideas are a bit stricter and more stringent than my own, this book really gave me new inspiration to dive into addiction studies. The final art piece that I'd like to share that is meaningful to me is the movie "Basketball Diaries" this film follows a teenage boy as he falls into substance use disorder. I watched this film at very young age but it has stuck with me and become very close to my heart. It showed me realities of how quickly substances can change everything about your life.

I have been recently envious of all of people from my past friendships getting married/engaged and buying houses. Its hard out here but I have to remind myself I have everything I need and my life isn't of the same timeline as others and that's okay.

My first summer job was probably babysitting but my first actual job was at McDonald's. I hated being greasy and smelling like fries all the time, but I was proud that I saved up enough to buy myself a 2001 Toyota Celica before I even got my learner's permit.

If I could go anywhere in the world I would explore New Zealand. It is so beautiful there and I would love to go on hikes and drink from their clean freshwater springs. My favorite place that I have been is Washington state.

My favorite television show currently is "The Maid" which follows a women trying to escape a Domestic Violence situation. It is very real and heartbreaking but I like how the depiction of struggling to untangle your life from another when you have limited resources is portrayed. The show also has good portrayals of Mental Health struggles and substance abuse struggles. Comfort shows I always come back to is BoJack Horseman and Shameless.

3 works of art that mean a lot to me:

1. Two Fridas by Frida Kahlo. The painting reflects the struggle between Frida's identity, separation, and loneliness. I think it reflects the idea of carrying two versions of ourselves at once. (The strong and confident side and the vulnerable side that struggles).

2. Salvador Dali's "The Face of War."

3. Any music that touches the soul and awakens emotion.

Something that has made me envious recently.. The fairy tale love you see in movies like "The Map that Leads to You." Knowing my situation won't allow that makes me incredibly sad.

My first summer-time job was a housekeeper at Christmas Mountain in the Dells.

If I could go anywhere in the world, I'd like to go to Poland or Bulgaria. I think the cultures are fascinating, and participating in the Meadows in the Mountains Festival would scratch off at least 10 items on my bucket list.

My favorite TV show? I don't watch a lot of TV, but when I do, I usually stick to documentaries or sappy love movies.

Three types of art that mean a lot to me are:

1: The Great Wall of China because I climbed to the top with my sister, dad, and grandpa and it is something I will never forget.

2. The band Nickelback because I remember my mom always playing it when I was a kid and my family and I just recently saw them in concert which was a full circle moment.

3. The musical Beauty and the Beast because I was in it my senior year of high school and being apart of it was one of the best times of my life.

Something that has made me envious recently is people who look like they have their life figured out. There are so many people who are doing way more than me but are the same age as me and that sometimes makes me feel like I am doing life all wrong.

My first summer job was being a busser at a local golf course.

If I could go anywhere in the world I would want to go to Switzerland because it looks so beautiful and I would love to ride the train in the mountains.

Hi everyone! My name is Dagny. It's a Norwegian name that means 'new day.' I've always loved the meaning behind it because I like to think of it as a little reminder that every day brings something new!

Name three works of art that mean a lot to me:

1. Florence + The Machine - Shake it Out. This is what I consider my sobriety song and I blast it whenever I hear it! Music in general is huge for me, I listen to it all day long and it keeps me motivated and grounded. Honestly, without music, I am lost.

2. One of my favorite books is Catherine Gray's The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober. It's witty, honest, and I found it super relatable. It not only talks about messy drinking days, but also what happens after you quit drinking. I love how it makes sobriety feel exciting instead of something that feels like a prison or a loss. I've even shared it with others on their own sobriety journey and I'm ready to read it again!

3. I am a big fan of Todd Baxter's Ceremonial Print series. I first saw a large print when I visited Camp Wandawega (honestly, this whole place is my favorite work of art), and I instantly fell in love with how it made me feel (I love design and all things that give me that old summer camp vibe).

Things that have made me envious lately:

1. I have a little bit of envy of people I see traveling a lot or those who have fewer responsibilities...right now, I'm balancing a lot of commitments...

2. I am also envious of people who live so freely in the flow of life, deeply in touch with their emotions, nature, and earth. That's something I just experienced at a gathering on the West Coast and it really inspired me (unfortunately I don't see as much of that here in WI).

My first summer job:

I was a guide at Little Norway in Mount Horeb. I gave tours and connected myseslf and others with the history of this little Norwegian homestead (which has now been sadly shut down).

If I could go anywhere in the world:

I would go back to Norway in a heartbeat, and travel my way around Europe.

1. There is a video game out called Expedition 33, the game is beautiful in and of itself, but the soundtrack is really really incredibly beautiful – what makes it even more interesting is that this game and soundtrack was created with you’re ‘average’ every day people, no big names, no big musicians, just regular people like you and me!

2. I also really love the Fallout games; each game is done so well (although they are older games) the music and the details that the developers put into each game is amazing. I can get lost in that world.

3. I’ve also really enjoyed watching my wildflower garden bloom. Popping up with such beautiful and unexpected colors – mother nature’s work of art.

What sort of things have made you envious recently?
Recently, I’m envious of people who have energy. It can feel at times like every day is a constant ‘go go go’ with a never ending ‘to do’ list.

What was your first summer job?
My first summer job was a camp counselor at MSCR. I would teach swim lessons in the morning and then a day camp in the afternoon.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where?
My own private island.

Favorite TV show?
The Office. I have 2 tattoos dedicated to it :P

Melting Watch by Salvador Dali. I love his painting growing because it was like and still is looking into a dream. I also loved how you can see many different things out of and in one image. With the melting watch it felt that time had no control and was no longer rigid but fluid and could change with your perception.

I love the street artist who goes by Banksy. His work can make people think about what is going on in our world politically and socially. He uses dark humor. While pushing against societies norms. I enjoy most of his work one that stands out is a homeless man with a cup and a sign that says keep your coins I Want Change.

I love quilts, I get the feeling of warmth, coziness and love when I see a quilt. I also love the art that goes into making quilts. Some of my favorite are from Gee's Bend Quilt-makers who have an improvisational and abstract style that has been passed down through generations out of necessity.

I have been envious of people who get along with their families.

My first summer job was detasseling corn. My brother's girlfriend at the time was my crew chief, and I was on a team with my best friend. We did not get to eat any corn and didn't get paid until the end of summer.

I would like to go the Mediterranean area to eat their food and enjoy their sea.

Hi everyone! My name is Laura. This is of course, my last year at MATC. After this year, I am hoping to continue my education at UW-Whitewater for Social Work, specifically towards children in school settings.

It’s hard to come up with three works of art. I enjoy listening to different types of music, mainly rap/pop. Although, I've been listening to a lot of Taylor Swift and Megan Moroney lately. Die-hard swiftie over here. Whenever traveling to new areas, I make sure to take in the landscapes and architecture surrounding me. I also love watching Mamma Mia.  

What sort of things have made you envious recently? 

Since graduating high school in 2020, lots of fellow classmates have graduated from four-year universities in the last year. I am envious of them for figuring out what they wanted to do with their life at age eighteen. I find myself constantly comparing and asking myself questions/what ifs, or if I would have known what I wanted to do. With this, there have also been engagements/marriages as well as children! The time will come 😊  

What was your first summer job? 

My first summer jobs were babysitting and working for a pizza company in my hometown.  

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you like to go? 

Anywhere outside of the U.S. Never been and have always wanted to go literally anywhere.  

What is your favorite TV show? 

One of my favorites would have to be Big Brother. I have watched it with my family since I was a kid, and every summer I look forward to watching it.  

I work full-time at our local hospital in the registration department and the outpatient department. On weekends, I work in the Emergency Department.

When I have spare time, which I don't have a lot of extra time during the school year, I am focused on my health and nutrition, pre-making my meals and taking long walks with our dog, Eliza Jane.

Name three works of art that mean a lot to me.

1) The song, "This is my fight song," is my song that I played a lot when I had cancer, and I play that a lot as I was going through my first few months of sobriety.

2) One of my favorite books, by Mel Robbins, Let Them Theory. I started listening to Mel and her podcasts because I needed something that gave me some encouragement, and I needed to feel some type of empowerment when I felt my life was going no where. This book gave me the encouragement to take my mental health first and laugh at the little things, and even the big things. I hate saying no or hate confrontations because I worried about what others would think of me. This book gave me some good insight into "who the * f* cares.

3) I love any songs that get me to dance it out. After a long day, I love to come home, cuddle my puppy, listen to music that gets me up and dance.

My first summer job was more than a summer job. I had to work through high school since my mom was a single mom, we didn't have much money, so I had to work to get my senior photos, buy my car, by class ring. It was Wendy's, and I loved it enough to realize this was something I did not want to do for the rest of my life.

The only thing that made me envious lately is my brother in law and sister in law went to Ireland a few weeks ago. I am not sure why I was jealous considering we went to Europe 3 summers ago & are planning a Germany trip next summer.

The one place I have always wanted to go is Greece. I am not sure why, but it looks absolutely beautiful.

My favorite TV show when I have time to watch TV is Grey's Anatomy.

Three works of art that stand out to me are more in the realm of architecture: Gothic style, Prairie Home style, and the works of Frank Lloyd Wright, along with an interest in modern architecture.

Recently, I have found myself envious of people who hold master’s degrees or PhDs, as that level of education represents a goal I would like to reach someday.

My first summer job was at Farm & Fleet in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where I gained early experience working in a retail environment.

If I could travel anywhere, I would choose Serbia or Montenegro, since both places are tied to history and culture I would like to explore. For television, my favorite show is Top Gear, which I enjoy for its mix of cars, travel, and humor.

This short introduction reflects a little about my background, interests, and goals, and I look forward to learning alongside the rest of the class.

I am a mother to two absolutely wonderful humans, aged 4 and 6. My husband and I have been together for 10 years, and he is my best friend and biggest supporter.

1.) I really love graphic novels, particularly autobiographical ones. The first adult graphic novel I picked up was Blankets by Craig Thompson, which I devoured in a day. While I prefer the artwork in Blankets, the storyline in Persepolis by Marjane Sartrapi was a more engaging read.

2.) Currently, I am listening to Aurora. I enjoy her songs Cure for Me and The Seed.

3.) The best musical I have ever seen was The Book of Mormon at the Overture Center.

I have recently felt envious of other parents in my community who got their college degrees and started their careers before having children.

My first summer job was babysitting the younger kids in my neighborhood, until I was 16 and got a job working at a Pick N Save as a cashier.

If I could go anywhere in the world right now, I would choose to go to Thailand.

Currently, I am watching the newest season of Wednesday on Netflix. I enjoy Tim Burton's creative mind.

I have recently felt envious of my younger siblings and how they have no worries or bug responsibility they simply just have fun and do everything and anything.

Poem or Saying: One Day at a Time and Secrets Keep You Sick are two works of art that really mean a lot to me. I know to others they probably wouldn't mean much but in my recovery I really found myself liking these two sayings and i really stuck by them. They both had an impact on my life and recovery.

I love to sing and listen to music and meditate.

Something that has made me envious lately is people with loving fathers because 2 years ago I lost mine and it still hurts.

My first summer job was volunteering at a church signing people up for the food pantry. And after that first paying job was Wendy’s restaurant.

I really would love to visit Jamaica I want have a girls trip there I think it would be beautiful.
