Economy: The biggest export of Mexico is vehicles, like cars and trucks. Big car and truck companies have decided to build their car factories, some of them being Chevrolet, Audi, and Honda have placed their factories in different parts of Mexico. This has given a huge boost to the economy of Mexico, just in 2016 Vehicle exports from Mexico generated a total of $88.1 Billion USD. That’s a huge improvement from the $34.5 Billion USD that was generated in 2015. Another big export in 2016 for Mexico was electrical machinery, like computers and other things like that, which generated approximately $70.1 Billion USD for the economy of Mexico. With the big increase of the economy, the peso exchange got lower which made the peso more valuable and worth more.

History: The Day of the Dead or “Dia de los Muertos” is a very big holiday that is native to Mexico. The The Day of the Dead celebrates loved ones that have passed away, it is meant to live on the memories of loved ones forever. The Day of the Dead was originally celebrated in the summer during the 16th century but as time passed people found it that it made more sense to place the Day of the Dead near Halloween which has to do with spirits and ghosts, so the date got moved to October 31-November 2nd, but it is mostly celebrated on November 1st. To celebrate Day of the Dead people make altars or “ofrendas” with pictures of the people you want to celebrate and you fill the altars with flowers, skulls, fruit, and other food and drinks the people that passed away liked. People also go to dinner with their families, or they can go celebrate on the streets.

Religion: A big religious holiday in mexico is the Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The holiday celebrates the anniversary of when the Mexican version of the Virgin Mary appeared to Juan Diego a shepherd who lived in Mexico. No one believed that until one day when Juan Diego went to go to the place where he first met Our Lady, when he went there he found a lot of flowers which had never been grown in that area. He grabbed the flowers and he put them in his robe. When he went to show the flowers to the priest to prove he saw Mary he dropped his robe and magically a picture of Mary was painted onto his robe. This robe is on displayed in Mexico City, and every year people from all over Mexico walk all the way to where the robe is in Mexico City.
