Look for two TEKS:
1. Find one that surprises you and share why (here on this padlet).
2. Find one that you can visualize teaching your students. Write two sentences describing that tech lesson.
3. Once you have found the TEKS you want to explore, Double click on an empty space and in the Title line, put your name. Below is where you put your information.
If you don't already have it, here is a GREAT app for your phone: Here is a
TEKS app for Android.
TEKS app for iOS.

I was surprised by Kindergarten - Grade 2 TEKS 6 (E) use proper keyboarding techniques such as ergonomically correct hand and body positions appropriate for Kindergarten-Grade 2 learning;

(F) demonstrate keyboarding techniques for operating the alphabetic, numeric, punctuation, and symbol keys appropriate for Kindergarten-Grade 2 learning; and
I did not learn to type the correct way until junior high so it is hard for me to see kindergartners doing this. I would think their hands would be too small to type correctly but maybe there are different techniques and keyboards to help that I am not aware of.

I can see myself teaching Kindergarten- Grade 2 TEKS 2 (B) participate in digital environments to develop cultural understanding by interacting with learners of multiple cultures;
There could be many fun activities with this TEKS but the first one that comes to mind is using pen pals from around the world. I would use this website: https://go.penpalschools.com/topics Students can go to this website and select topics they want to discuss with people from many different places.

I was surprised by: grade 6.c.(5) Digital citizenship. The student practices safe, responsible, legal, and ethical behavior while using technology tools and resources. The student is expected to:

(A) understand copyright principles, including current laws, fair use guidelines, creative commons, open source, and public domain; This seems like an advanced set of expectations for an eleven/twelve year old learner. I don't recall learning this until late high school English when doing research papers. (times change!!)
I can see myself teaching a lesson using TEK: grades6-8.c.Knowledge and skills.

(1) Creativity and innovation. The student uses creative thinking and innovative processes to construct knowledge, generate new ideas, and create products. The student is expected to:

(A) identify, create, and use files in various formats such as text, raster and vector graphics, video, and audio files; I would use www.geogebra.com and www.screencastify.com. Students would create a video explaining a geometry topic that we are studying.

K-2.4D collect, analyze, and represent data using tools such as word processing, spreadsheets, graphic organizers, charts, multimedia, simulations, models, and programming languages. I was surprised to see that students in lower grades are expected to use tech tools that I am still becoming familiar with. I still have difficulty with spreadsheets, creating charts, etc.
K-2.5A adhere to acceptable use policies reflecting appropriate behavior in a digital environment: I can definitely visualize myself teaching my kinder kids about appropriate behavior while on a digital environment using PP or even recording this info on Screencast to make it more kid friendly. Since we did a similar assignment, I feel I can definitely make modifications to meet the needs of the younger population.

K-2
(3) Research and information fluency. The student acquires and evaluates digital content. The student is expected to:

(B) use research skills to build a knowledge base regarding a topic, task, or assignment; and

This surprised me based on how students need to develop research skills to build knowledge. Would it be like be able to type into google about a certain topic they have questions about? Students are barely learning to read at this age. Some second grades might be able to do research by themselves but the other grades I don't think so.
One TEK I find myself able to teach is
K-2
5) Digital citizenship.
