The Parsley Massacre was a mass killing of Haitians and Dominicans of Haitian descent.(REASON FOR THIS-TO PUNISH HAITI FOR EXECUTING SOME OF HIS SPIES). It was carried out by machete so that the massacre could be passed off as a spontaneous uprising of Dominican farmers against Haitian cattle thieves. It was called the Parsley massacre because Dominican soldiers would hold up Parsley and ask others to pronounce the name for it, and the Haitian Creole did not allow them to pronounce the name correctly.(THE MISPRONUNCIATION OF THE SPANISH WORD FOR PARSLEY IDENTIFIED CREOLE-SPEAKING HAITIANS WHO COULD THEN BE KILLED) There were many border disputes between the nations that grew the tension as well as lot's of immigration of Haitians to the Dominican Republic as well as Cuba.

The Parsley Massacre was an extremely horrific event carried out my President Trujillo and his troops in 1937. Between 1 thousand and 30 thousand Haitians and people of Haitan Dominican descent were killed during this massacre. As said above the massacre was played off as Dominican farmers getting back at the Haitian cattle theives stealing from them. It was not discovered until many years later after reasearch that it was actually the fault of Trujillo and his people.

The US had initiated the Good Neighbor Policy, which obligated them to support and strengthen their relationship with Latin American countries, such as the DR. After his attempt at assassinating the president of Venezuela, the U.S. decided to cut ties with Trujillo and his organization.
