My first step was to sketch a sun and a moon on a white piece of paper. I sketched multiple different sizes until I found a size that would best fit a ring. I drew the rays of the sun and the center of the sun apart from each other, giving me the ability to later on solder them together on multiple layers. I drew two halves of a moon, one in which I would drill holes into to exemplify craters in the moon.

My second step was to cut out each individual drawing and glue them onto a piece of metal. I cut out the rays of the sun and glued it onto a piece of copper. I then cut out the center of the sun and glued it onto a silver piece of metal. I cut one of the moons and glued it onto a piece of copper, and the other onto a piece of silver metal. I used both copper and silver to work with different kinds of metal and therefore, different colors.

Once I cut out each drawing and glued it onto a piece of metal, I began to saw each design out of the metal. This step was very tedious because I had to saw out each individual ray of the sun. This step took a little bit longer than I had expected. Because my pieces were so small, it took a bit longer to saw each design out.

My next step was to choose wire that would best fit a ring. I chose this specific type of wire because I thought it was the right size in thickness that would best fit a ring. I then cut out two pieces of wire to make my ring. I measured both pieces so they were identical in length.

Once I had each ring soldered, I then soldered them together at one point so the rings were conjoined into one. At this point in my process, the center of the sun is layered onto the rays of the sun and the top layer of the moon with craters is soldered onto the solid back layer of the moon.
