My name is Nadia Zamago, and my program of study is Licensed Professional Counseling. One personal goal of mine is to complete my education with a PhD. One professional goal is to establish my own practice and help as many individuals as possible. Something interesting about me is that I am the first person in my family to go to college, and I hope my little sister will follow in my footsteps.

National Board for Certified Counselors Code of Ethics - Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) must follow state laws and the ethical codes set by groups such as the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). We are required to protect client privacy (with some legal exceptions), demonstrate professional skills, obtain client consent, honor clients' choices, prevent harm, and keep clear boundaries to avoid dual relationships. Continuing education in ethics and law is also necessary to keep our licenses.

This assignment aimed to help us build connections with classmates we’ll work with throughout the course. By introducing ourselves and sharing information, we also started to reflect on our previous experiences and understanding of mental illness, trauma, and crisis. Thinking about what we already know helps us get ready to learn new material.

We discussed what we currently know about trauma and why it matters for our future work as counselors. I selected the documentary Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, which covers Ted Bundy's crimes with audio from him, detectives, victims, and their families. Before watching, I shared a brief summary and my expectations. Afterwards, I talked about my response and how it changed or deepened my understanding of trauma.
