Rex Walls says this to Jeannette after he used her for her body to motivate the guy he was taking money from. Although this happened, she still accepted everything including her own body even after the guy, Robbie, called her “too bony to screw”. In the Glass Castle, Jeannette being sexually assaulted is brought to Rose Marys attention and says, “He’s just lonely”. As a mother, she should be able to protect her kids and their childhood. Anyone in their right mind would understand that that situation is all around wrong. This falls in the same term of dereliction just like Rose Mary. Jeannette brings it to the readers attention when Rose Mary says, “it’s not my fault if you’re hungry…Don’t blame me!”. Rose Mary says this to Jeannette when all she said was that she was hungry and caught Lori and Jeannette eating margarine with sugar. If it isn’t her fault, who’s is it?
