I also found the ideas of how schools discipline and enforce certain norms particularly around gender, really interesting. The week's topic on religion in schools was also really enlightening and challenged my own views, so that now I appreciate that religion isn't always about control but can also foster understanding amongst diverse peers.

I particularly enjoyed the ideas about culturally responsive pedagogy, privilege, and funds of knowledge that students bring to the classroom. Really caused me to consider how we really do education, and whether the paths to success are really as straightforward as I had once assumed, causing me to really reflect on how I can better support students in ways that help their learning instead of hinder.

A single idea from each week or topic can interact with exponential complexity. Even in topics where the materials took a stance on facts or values that I disagreed with, they all stem from a place of refining and experimenting any and every aspect of our profession to make it more humane, just and effective. I thought discussion on class and socio-economic modes of learning, especially in the context of the debate over public vs private learning, the most challenging and have frequently thought about it outside of study hours.
