The act was to consolidate the settlers by creating an imaginary line from the Appalachian Mountains. So the Native Americans didn't have any conflicts with Great Britain.
Why did the British pass it?
The British passed the act so the French would not have any tension with the Native Americans and there was peace within them.
How did the colonist react?

The colonist reacted mad and angry because the people that were beyond the border had to move and leave there houses. Also the colonist who lived inside the border were bad that they couldn't leave and start a new life with either a farmer or a shopkeeper.

Explain the act- The Townshend acts were a series of acts passed beginning in 1767 by the parliament Great Britain relating to the British colonies in North America.

Why did the British pass it?- The purpose of the Townshend Acts was to raise revenue in the colonies to pay the salaries of governors and judges so that they would remain loyal to Great Britain.
How did the colonist react-
The Townshend Acts were actually a series of taxes and laws imposed upon the colonists. The first, the Townshend Revenue act, placed a tax on glass, paint, oil, lead, paper, and tea.
