In the Maritimes, independent and student journalists are concerned for what it means for their readership online.

Without Meta's social media and Google results, journalism classes will also have to adjust how to teach students to share their stories once created.

"There is going to be this shift where once news is created, once stories are created, how it’s disseminated, and part of the teaching environment is going to shift on this as well,” said Jamie Gillies, chair of the journalism department at St. Thomas University.


In a dynamic business, students are ready to roll with the punches.

"We'll have to be taught how to deal with that and how to adapt to other social media,” said Grillo de Lambarri.

“The Aquinian, for example, has other social platforms -- YouTube, TikTok, Twitter."

"We are still in the process of figuring out how this is going to affect us and how to accommodate. One of the things I mentioned is QR codes to our website, maybe posters.”

For more established newsrooms, Acadie Nouvelle is working on solutions.

His son died at age 10 and he started a fund to help kids play hockey in memory of his son.

(feel good story and a so-jo story which is rare. (sports helps youth development) (fund helps youth develop socially and financially)

"The fellowship fund has helped over 200 kids in the past 21 years and continues to support those in need. It covers full registration for kids, from “the start right until when they age out,” according to Harlow."
 
(Evidence of impact is that they have donated money but the article does not include other people's words weather positive or otherwise). It is helping to raise money to help other kids play hockey but that's financially and the story needs to include extra evidence beyond Harlow's estimates.

Overwork death is so common in Japan they created the term “Karoshi.” 

There’s clear evidence that overworking impacts students and adults alike. 

We can all benefit from learning to take care of ourselves.

This kind of information really matters through environmental hardship.

The dynamics of her work environment are more similar to a family rather than a business. Employees are excited to work together. Customers appreciate the energy in the store. So maybe its time employers try to development families that work together to complete a goal rather than teams filled with individuals competing for raises.

There aren't many stories that are covering how well the new court has aged. It'd be good to see how it has impacted victims' trust in the judicial system since its establishment, given that only 5% of sexual abusers were prosecuted at the time of the release of this article.

A follow up story for this would be covering the reasoning behind the 2014 law implemented by Steven Harper as well as the issues that came with it. Interviews with those in the sex trade could help get a more inside view along with helping to destigmatize such a taboo profession. Insights could include the health and safety issues that come with the sex trade and discussing the importance of proper STI checks and tests. Limitations would include the lack of control that often comes with the sex trade and having an open discussion to what can be safely done to improve the life of those in the trade without harming those who still despise it.
