Attending the Symphony by Elizabeth Callen https://padlet.com/elizabethacallen/ao05u60234ng I went to the University of North Texas Symphony Orchestra concert on Wednesday. The pieces played include: "Symphony No. 2: The Age of Anxiety" by Leonard Bernstein and "Symphony No.5 in B-flat Major, Opus 100" by Sergei Prokofiev. The concert included an intermission, dividing the two works. The first half was easy to stay engaged in, due to the excitement of concert. The second half though was much more challenging to sit through, and I found my self zoning out, losing focus.I have to say though that going with a group made me feel much more obliged to stay than say if I went alone. I decided to include "The Seven Stages" because it was my favorite piece. Before I read the program notes, I interpreted this piece as the journey of a dream through flying, nightmares, and mourning.
