<title>8/3/17 - We had another great day of school today! We started setting up our interactive notebook today. Attached are the instructions completed to date. Tonight&#39;s homework requires the completion of the numbering of the pages of the notebook. The notebook is numbered the same as the pages of any book you pick up - even numbers on the left and odd numbers on the right. The supply list is attached as well. Have a great evening! </title>

<title>8/8/17 - We have had a great week so far. We took the Geology pre-test yesterday to provide feedback on where the focus will be for instruction. Today we watched a Lab Safety video and set up our rules for the classroom, which are attached. Please check w/ your child daily on what they are learning. Agendas are required for this team. Please either purchase one from the school for $5, or obtain one elsewhere. Have a blessed evening.</title>

<title>8/16/17 - We worked on our foldable today. Instruction was provided on how to draw the layers of the Earth on the back of the foldable. Using the cm side of a ruler mark the 0cm, 3cm, 9cm and 18cm. The space between 0cm and 3cm is the inner core (color yellow). The space between 3cm and 9cm is the outer core (color orange). The space between 9cm and 18cm is the mantle (color red). Two streaks of green, one on top of the other, will represent the continental crust. One streak of blue will represent the oceanic crust. These two colors will rest atop the mantle. The quiz will be given Friday, as we will perform an experiment tomorrow.</title>

<title>8/17/17 - We had an awesome day creating Oobleck today (cornstarch and water concoction). The proper combination of the two reflects well how the mantle behaves (thick and stiff, yet somewhat of a liquid), under heat and pressure (rubbing it together creates a ball), or allowing it to lie in the palm of one&#39;s hand (turns back to a liquid). Again, it was a fun day. I forgot to take pictures! 😕 Hopefully I&#39;ll remember to do so on our demonstration. The Layers Foldable is due tomorrow, and we will take our Layers quiz. </title>

<title>8/28/17 - Today was a review day. We went over Friday&#39;s quiz to discuss the correct answers, and reviewed the crossword puzzle that was homework for the weekend. We also took a vocabulary quiz. The test is being moved to Thursday due to the lackluster scores of Quiz #2. We did have more students pass the 2nd test vs the 1st, but more work is required. Please quiz your child over vocabulary words 1-10 and have them explain the composition of each layer and how the temperature, density and pressure change from layer to layer.</title>

We numbered the pages of the notebook today, odd numbers on the right pg., even numbers on the left pg. beginning w/ the very 1st pg. We also copied the following vocabulary words with their definitions from the back of the Fall semester notebook to the back of the Spring semester notebook: atmosphere, troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, radiation, conduction, convection, greenhouse gases, infrared radiation, ultraviolet radiation. We will write out the remaining vocabulary words and definitions from the Fall semester book every Tuesday and Thursday on 3x5 index cards.
