Instruction was provided on how to draw the layers of the Earth on the back of the foldable. Using the cm side of a ruler mark the 0cm, 3cm, 9cm and 18cm. The space between 0cm and 3cm is the inner core (color yellow). The space between 3cm and 9cm is the outer core (color orange). The space between 9cm and 18cm is the mantle (color red). Two streaks of green, one on top of the other, will represent the continental crust. One streak of blue will represent the oceanic crust. These two colors will rest atop the mantle. The proper combination of the two reflects well how the mantle behaves (thick and stiff, yet somewhat of a liquid), under heat and pressure (rubbing it together creates a ball), or allowing it to lie in the palm of one's hand (turns back to a liquid). Again, it was a fun day. I forgot to take pictures! 😕 Hopefully I'll remember to do so on our demonstration.
