The fact that the room is pitch black helps Poe create a sense of terror for what lurks in the dark.<br>The multiple settings in "The black cat" aren't described in detail, but the walls seem to be focused on the most. At the first house, all the walls burned down but one, and in the second house, the body was hidden within the walls. I feel that these walls help represent how the narrators mind is being destroyed and then built up again, one to be destroyed once more.</div>]]></description>

The narrator in "The Tell-Tale Heart" was planning to kill the old man for weeks while the narrator in "The Black Cat" didn't mean to at all.</div>]]></description>
