First of all, I am a 68 year old white woman.

I will redouble my efforts every day to at least say hello to people, esp the young in venues as those hanging around library entrances, local metroparks, and those walking by our house.
If a conversation ensues (usually doesn't)
I'll be more open and less self conscious.

I am not around young people often, much less people of color. While I don't consider myself prejudiced, this video pointed out things I can definitely work on.

It makes me very sad to see such young humans having to deal with such huge problems. I had actually never thought about this issue before. Have things always been this bad? Schools are carrying the burdens of an uncaring society.

A better view of sullenness. Opening my eyes more to how often we criminalize the victims - we just can't stand to see certain types of human vulnerabilities, perhaps partly because we suspect we may have had a hand in causing them, partly because we are afraid of seeing them in ourselves.
