- Freedom Within Limits because it's connected to the work of accreditation where AMS is meant to be responsive to the unique traits of each school community but still ensure core standards are being met.
- Peace and Global Citizenship because the original mission of Montessori is as relevant today as it was in 1907 and the world continues to need a pedagogy and philosophy that helps achieve a restructuring of society for peace.
How does this align with your personal strategic goals this year at AMS?
- Streamlining accreditation process as well as the communication with other partners like cooperative agencies, schools, members, and within AMS as an organization.
- I'm meant to be doing the work of incorporating a gloabl perspective in all programming and initiatives that I have a role in.

Freedom within limits (ZG)

Freedom within limits resonates with me - it's very close to my preferred work style (and how I like to live my life in general): To have independence and autonomy within a clear set of parameters/boundaries.

For my strategic goals, I'll look at them through this lens to understand areas where I need to seek the limits from my colleagues, or other areas where I'll need to be the one to outline the limits.

Individualized Learning

In credentials and teacher education we find ourselves meeting TEPs and adult learners where they are in their program creation and adult learner journeys. We find areas where we can be flexible and assist them in reaching their goals of becoming credentialed teachers!

This principle also ties into my goals when it comes to creating a unified credentialing process across AMS. I have spent time with different departments to see where they are with their credentialing/certificate functions. Through these collaborations we've discussed ways in which credentialing can be improved and also ways they are currently functioning well.

TE: Global expansion requires us to deeply know the foundation/current environment, so that we can assess how to build upon it to create a new prepared environment where we can meet the needs of all adults--those building new programs, those providing government permissions, and those attending, as well as the needs of the families and children TEP graduates will serve.

The principle that resonates most from a societal context is Peace and Global Citizenship. On a professional level, the principle that is most resonant is The Prepared Environment. This is connected to our strategy in a number of ways. For my personal strategic goals, there is the focus on re-imagining our accreditation and affiliation work, and our requirements as they apply to the definition of "high-quality Montessori" are front of mind.

Connection Between Freedom within Limits and the Role of the Adult to set those limits.

Setting clear objectives/goals, timelines, expectations (set by Adult - owner of the project, team, leadership, etc.) and allowing for freedom in developing creative strategies to meet those "limits" through collaboration.

The principles that resonate most with me personally at this place in time are whole child and respect for the child. I think it may be because of my current phase of life as a parent of young children but these two are so important for me. I feel like respect and honoring the whole child are often overlooked in educational systems (and systems in general) when really children are the future and changemakers. They need to be viewed and prioritized as such.

Professionally, I would say global citizenship most closely aligns with my goals this year.

- Cultivating knowledge, love of learning, and ability to be independent - all are key as a parent. Knowing what limits to apply and remove are critical to success.

AMS goals:

- Also Freedom within limits

- AMS membership (think of the TME experience or of our membership benefits as a whole) are specific and limited - and yet we depend on the free choices of our members to take advantage of them. How can we create and communicate that AMS has and is its only world of opportunities?
