Walter thinks that Walter thinks that everything is related to money. For example • Mama: “Son, how come you talk so much ‘bout money?” Walter: “Because, it is life, Mama!” Mama: “Oh—so now its life. Money is life. Once upon a time freedom use to be life—now its money. I guess the world really do change…” Walter: “No—it was always money, Mama. We just didn’t know about it.” p. 74. This means that Walter has the personality trait of greedy. He has tried to get everyone on HIS idea of the liquor store. He mostly thinks that the liquor store will help him but no one wants to go on his idea. Walter then goes to steal 6,500 dollars to give it to a man to get a liquor license but gets it stolen.

Walter is a greedy type of person. This is shown in the story by him saying • “Forget it baby! There ain’t no causes—there ain’t nothing but taking in this world, and he who takes most is smartest—and it don’t make a damn bit of difference how.” P. 143. This shows that Walter thinks that if you take what you want to rule everything. Walter wants to take everything he wants and thinks it will help him with his current problems. Walter is sure that taking the money for liquor business is a good idea but it eventually hurts the family from his greedy decision.

I think that Walter doesn't deserve sympathy. He hurt the family with his words and him losing the money. Walter has said that his sister should get an abortion just because there is no more space in the house. The second fact of Walter losing the money for the family and making them struggle even more is a tough thing to think about.

This picture represents what Walter did with the family money. Mama put the 3,500 dollars down for the house and thought of saving the rest of it for later and for beneath's college funds. Walter then decides to take the money in order to get a liquor license quicker and gets it taken by Willy Harris. This picture literally describes what Walter did.

My ocean town struggles

to pick up leaves,

offer summer school,

and keep our library open.

Every day now

more men stand

at the railroad station,

waiting to be chosen for work.

Because it’s thought

the Hispanics will work for less

they get picked first,

while the whites and blacks

avoid the terror

in one another’s eyes.

Our handyman, Santos,

who expects only

what his hands earn,

is proud of his half acre in Guatemala,

where he plans to retire.

His desire to proceed with dignity

is admirable, but he knows

that now no one retires,

everyone works harder.

My father imagined a life

more satisfying than the one

he managed to lead.

He didn’t see himself as uneducated,

thwarted, or bitter,

but soon-to-be rich.

Being rich was his right, he believed.

Happiness, I used to think,

was a necessary illusion.

Now I think it’s just

precious moments of relief,

like dreams of Guatemala.

Sometimes, at night,

in winter, surrounded by

the significant silence

of empty mansions,

which once were cottages,

where people lived their lives,

and now are owned by banks

and the absent rich,

I like to stand at my window,

looking for a tv’s futile flickering,

always surprised to see

instead

the quaint, porous face

of my reflection,

immersed

in its one abundance.

This poem relates to Walters character traits. This is possible because It states that "Because it’s thought the Hispanics will work for less they get picked first, while the whites and blacks avoid the terror". This means that the people who has been picking the Hispanic have thought that their specific race was best suited for the job they are taking them for. This shows greed because the people who are choosing the Hispanics want nothing but free labor to do what the command.

These lyrics can relate to Walter. The reason why the song Mine from (sadly) lazy town is because Walter took the family money and has said things that has hurt the family. Walter has taken the family money to put into the liquor business. He also told his sister that she would never become a doctor and should just be a nurse. He also told his wife Ruth to get an abortion because there is no space in the house. He has a long argument with his wife and she eventually says she wants to keep it.

Class/money can affect people in real life and A Raisin In The Sun. This is shown by Walter's conversation with Mama "Mama: “Son, how come you talk so much ‘bout money?” Walter: “Because, it is life, Mama!” Mama: “Oh—so now its life. Money is life. Once upon a time freedom use to be life—now its money. I guess the world really do change…” Walter: “No—it was always money, Mama. We just didn’t know about it.” p. 74 . This shows that money has truly affected the Lee family with hem always needing it. They have had the struggle of not having money and having to decide what to do with the 10,000 dollars they gained from their fathers death. Everyone in the family had ideas to decide on what to use the money for but until Mama decided to put 3,500 dollars down and when Walter took the remaining 6,500.
