In conclusion, "Inside Out" beautifully illustrates Erikson's theory of psychosocial development by depicting how Riley navigates the complexities of her emotions during a twisted life transition. The film aligns with Erikson's stages, particularly emphasizing the struggle between identity and role confusion in adolescence. As Riley experiences the upheaval of moving to a new city, we see her emotions—Joy, Disgust, Sadness, Anger, and Fear—work together to help her build her working identity throughout every hardship. "Inside Out" serves as a reminder that understanding and embracing all our emotions is essential for growth and self-discovery as we navigate through the lifecycle. Chapters 9 and 10 of Pomerantz's textbook focused on the theme of growth and self discovery through emotions and other psychological concepts. By showcasing the importance of emotional awareness, the film captures the essence of Erikson's theory in a cartoon form to explain his complexed thinking of the the developmental journey of childhood and adolescence.

Character Development

The identity of Riley was still being found throughout the whole movie of "Inside Out". This is a unique movie due to the fact that we watched the character grow up and we got to see the roles that each emotion played first hand. Erikson's Theory did an amazing job in highlighting the development of Riley because we were able to see how society affects the development of humans like Erikson stated. The theory was capable of capturing all the experiences of this Riley because we saw stages of life from infancy up until adolescents and it lined up perfectly with Eriksons timeline. Erikson's psychosocial theory is a good fit for assessing Riley from "Inside Out," as it provides a framework for understanding her development through various stages of life, particularly during her transition into adolescence. Overall, I feel like Erikson's theories and even other theorists ideas are valid to Rileys experience through the lifespan because we saw how she succeed at some of the stages and failed at others and how that built up and tore down her self esteem. Overall Riley was able to obtain her own personality while going through these stages and in Inside out 2 you can see how Riley is still following Erikson's Stages.
