SILVER LINING 5 - Lasting Impacts of Covid-19 by Beth Thomas

With the uncertainty of the world today and no crystal ball, we cannot predict the future. Will there be some positive outcomes of this pandemic? How will it change things for the better? Part of that depends on our ability to reflect and understand different perspectives. Please read the article and WATCH the 4 minute video found on this page: https://bit.ly/silverlining5 . 1. Please respond in 2-3 sentences: WHAT are two things you predict will be different - in a positive way?Include WHY you think this.
They may or may not be included in this link. 2. Please read other students responses - you may "like" their responses, also. 3.Write your FIRST name LAST initial at the end of your post so I can give you credit. :-)

As Coronavirus leaves a trail of dead bodies where ever it goes, and hundreds of thousands lain ill after it's movement, things seem bad. However, Covid has also allowed the Earth begin to heal itself with everyone in lock down and unable to travel anywhere. Such as in China, the source of the outbreak, where coal use in China's 6 largest has dropped by 40% and emissions fell 25%. In Europe, satellites show that nitrogen dioxide emissions are fading over northern Italy.
- Austin Maurer

New York also has reduced there pollution by nearly 50%. Since this pandemic the air quality has been getting better since there hasn't been a lot of people of the house. With people staying home and not traveling it has made a difference which is really helpful to the economy.
Gracie Boutilier

The disease is obviously seen as a very bad thing as its killing thousands of people and having a very big toll and everyone's every day life. It may seem like a bad thing to us, but really for the environment it is a good thing with the levels of pollution in the air going down with China's emissions going down 25% and and New York reducing it's pollution by almost 50% . These numbers are great. So even with the lasting effect of deaths and problems there is some good as well.
Wyeth Hayes

Also, at the beginning of the year China's emissions had dropped 25%. Not only that, but also without everyone outside and using transportation and factories the air has just become way cleaner in general. Lastly, in Europe nitrogen dioxide is fading away. All, of these environmental changes could be huge. Just remember there is still good.
Ashlyn Jones

The Corona Virus hasn't had only negative impacts on us, but also positive impacts that we don't see. For example, pollution and green house gas emissions are falling. The main reason these things have been decreased is because our travel usage has been slowed down and transport takes up 23% of global carbon emissions. I hope that the clearing of pollution isn't only temporary and this can help us in the long run.
Keaton Stuckman

In the time that the Corona Virus has kept most of the human race indoors it has made some very large and important impacts on the world. One of those being that there is significantly less carbon produced by cars and travel. Another positive of Corona is that animal habitats are much cleaner because humans have been inside.
Duncan Herring

New York's pollution is almost half of what it used to be. Along with all of the other benefits of Covid-19 it is good to say that we at least got something out of this pandemic.
Ezra R
