The Horses Head

I wanted to talk about the non diegetic sound, specifically the score. The man is sleeping in his bed, the music is very soft and slow at this point. As the man begins to wake up, he notices blood on his sheets. At this point, the score begins to pick up the pace until the man discovers the horses head to which the score amps up a even more to which the audience is even freaked out! Really well done by Cappola. Another interesting thing I discovered is the use of a foley artist specifically in reference to the birds chirping in the beginning of the scene. I highly doubt birds chirped like that every 2 seconds for that certain scene. This is a non diegetic sound.

Killing Sollozzo and McCluskey

The sound in this scene is very interesting. Michael Corleone goes to get the gun planted in the back of the restaurant to where Sollozzo and McCluskey are eating at. He brand the gun and proceeds to go sit down with the two men. All of a sudden, it seems a noise of a train is going on in Michaels head, he can't hear it, which makes it a non diegetic sound, but the audience can to which we assume that chaos is about to ensue.

The Baptism Murders

The sound in this scene is all from a foley artist. There is shot in hell that they set off guns in public areas like a church or outside where people walk around. Meanwhile, while guns are being shot off because of Michael, the score intensifies because of it. The audience see's Michael watching the baby being baptized, to which we see Michaels stern look on his face as he knows he killed multiple men in the house of God. The score was genius.
