Head and Neck:

  • Neck shows no sign of injury.

Trunk:
  • No visible sign of trauma. Abdomen is bloated

Extremities:
  • The ankles are swollen with fluid accumulation.
  • The graying fingernails, indicate low oxygen.
  • The right proximal humerus shows signs of a recently healed break, as does the left distal tibia.
  • Inflamed, red injection sites on left thigh.

  • Often urge to urinate
  • Protein found in urine
  • Swelling in the ankles
  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Cloudy urine
  • Bloating/pain in lower abdomen
  • Anna's left kidney was found to be pale during the autopsy
  • UTI can lead to kidney infections and kidney failure over time.
  • This can occur when bacteria moves through the urinary system. It enters through the urinary tract and moves through the urethra to the kidneys and multiplies.
  • This doesn't occur very often in healthy women, however Anna had many health problems, such as diabetes, sickle cell anemia and high cholesterol.
  • Dietician -- If Anna would have had a dietician, she could have had a better diet with a necessary glucose count to help with her diabetes. This also could have helped with her high cholesterol and blood pressure.
  • Microbiologist -- A microbiologist could have identified Anna's bacteria as E. coli with a urinalysis or urine culture, preventing her UTI and eventual kidney failure.
  • Clinical Geneticist -- They help people cope with genetic diseases. This professional could have helped Anna cope with her diabetes as well as her sickle cell disease.
