It wasn't justified because The USA was more interested in a quick and easy end to the war. They had in their hands a weapon that was capable of bringing the war to a swift end, and so they used it. Even Henry Lewis Stimson was not sure the bombs were needed to reduce the need of an invasion. Basically they shouldn’t have dropped the bomb so quickly, they should’ve waited to resolve the situation some other way instead of immediately going to something so brutal. There are more peaceful ways to solve situations, like making peace offerings with baskets full of kittens. Americans are crazy and I know this for a fact because I am crazy too, though I would never murder anyone because that’s what video games are for.

I am not comfortable discussing this like we understand all sides of this event, because we have really only been taught one (the "America wins" one), and perhaps a small portion of the exact opposite (the direct impact on Japan).

And even then we only really have direct historical recording of the political opinions of both sides, it has barely been mentioned how the citizens of Japan felt about their place in the war before or after the bombing

Although we get to say that they were all for it, because in most historical records of any event, the will of the people is treated only as the backing of the will of their leaders.

For proof of the concept that we aren't informed enough to argue this event, please refer to the comments of every post.

The dropping of the atomic bomb was not justified; due to the fact that many people had different ideas about how to use it - some not even wanting to use it at all. Document A stated that, “...began to debate how to use it… killed civilians indiscriminately… conventional bombing would convince Japan to surrender… James Byrnes, however, wanted to drop the bomb without any warning to shock Japan into surrendering.” It is presented that many people involved with the decision were torn about the idea of dropping the bomb - was it dropped too soon without a proper decision being made? Most likely.

I think that the United States use of the atomic bomb is justified because the US felt that they needed to drop the bombs. Without using the atomic bombs the US would have lost over a million soldiers and would have taken much longer to end the war because the Japenese wouldn’t surrender. The Japenese were extreme when fighting and would rather die than get captured, which caused for it to be very difficult to get the Japenese to surrender. The US did take a good amount of time thinking and figuring out their options before deciding that the only way this war will end without millions of americans dying is to drop the atomic bomb. “Japanese battle plans that were in place when the bombs were dropped called for a massive, suicidal defense of the home islands, in which the imperial government would mobilize not only several million fighting men but also millions of ordinary citizens who had been trained and indoctrinated to resist to the end with primitive makeshift weapons. For Japanese to even discuss capitulation surrender was seditious”. Without the use of the atomic bomb WWII
would have continued going on in the pacific and then would have lead to losing the lives of over a million more american soldiers.

America was wrong to drop the atomic bomb because, the bomb killed alot of people, and there is a story about a survivor and what he witnessed. It was awful because no one should go through anything like that, even if you guys are in war. It was used to make the japan surrender, they were kinda dumb not to because it got their people killed. They had a choice to surrnder and keep their empire, or dont

The decision to drop the atomic bomb on Japan was an act that killed more than 200,000 innocent Japanese civilians, though it saved the lives of millions more of the Japanese civilians and millions of fighters and soldiers on both sides. By invading we would seem even more monstrous then we did by dropping the bomb. All of their capable civilians would also try to fight us. We would look as if we came to kill them all, and they are desperately defending their homeland and people from us and our murdering invasion. Yes the bomb was unacceptable and brutal. But what if Japan used our invasion as propaganda to not only influence their people, but the world. In the end it was a very difficult decision, one I would never want to make. I think it is more brutal to invade japan to kill millions upon millions of Japanese who are innocent and indoctrinated. We would also be sending millions of troops from the U.S as well as other allies, to their deaths.
We would have been going to seemingly kill everyone in order to end the war. Not that we didn't with the bomb though.
