Often the biggest opposition to social rights movements are large institutions. They are often led not by moral status, but by monetary value. Not only does this abandon the ethical point of view that is so crucial to human rights movements, but it allows these institutions to hold power over those fighting against them.

As most of us know there is quite a power struggle between those led by religion and those led by a desire for equality and the rights of other living beings. The most common displays of this relationship is in regard to the LGBTQ+ rights movement, and abortion rights movement. In both of these instances religion is often seen and used as a justification for the revoking of rights. Unfortunately, it is also often forced upon others to uphold another's personal opinions and beliefs.

Globalization and inequality are the primary influences and motivations behind the activists in my community. Needless to say, inequality often comes with threats to the health and safety of the oppressed. BLM is an excellent example of this. The systemically based racial profiling that often takes place in law enforcement was a life threatening issue. As we saw during the peak of the movement in 2020, while light was shed, there was an astonishing amount of black citizens killed at the hands of those with strong biases.
I chose to use the term 'activists' because it is a very broad term. Because this is such a broad image in the eye of social movement, there are a multitude of social locations that are members of this community. Because my community fights for so many demographics and social issues, there are bound to be all sorts of racial and ethnic economic statuses, genders, and sexual orientations included and affected by the community.
