1. Add water into test tube number one up to the 2cm. mark to act as a control.

2. Add a piece of liver to test tube 1, pushing it down till it hits the water. Record the reaction, if any.

3. Fill test tube number 2 with peroxide to 2cm mark and add liver, push liver down till it reaches peroxide.

4. Record the reaction, if any.

5. Now we need to prove that the reaction that occurred is water and oxygen. To do this put peroxide in 3rd tube up to 2cm mark.

6. Light wooden splint on fire and let it burn until it glows red and place it into peroxide.

7. Record reaction, if any.

8. There was no reaction, this proves that peroxide isn't flammable. Now put 2cm of peroxide into 4th test tube, add the liver, remember to push it down.

9. To prove the reaction is oxygen take the wooden splint and light it till it lights red and ten place in peroxide reaction.

10. The fire proves oxygen and water is created because pure oxygen when lit causes fire. Next boil a piece of liver (when too much heat is applied then the proteins denature)

11. Put water and boiled liver in last test tube then put peroxide. Record reaction, if any.

Enzymes are macromolecular biological catalysts. They excite and speed up chemical reactions. The enzyme catalase found in the liver help detoxify our bodies of peroxide. In our experiment when hydrogen peroxide was added to the liver a enzyme-substrate reaction took place. Oxygen was created and water was left behind. This proves that the reaction in the liver neutralizes peroxide.
