I can use My Pop Studio to help educate students about social media's and to help empower them to make great choices. There seems to be so many different ways this site educates students about the behind the scenes of what they are exposed to! I have lesson plans that use newscasts to teach subject matter and I'd love to tie this website into it!

I can use News Bias Explored to demonstrate how perspective is important when using critical thinking skills. Year 6 Students often explore historical events such as the Eureka Stockade and adding this activity into the mix can generate healthy debates about 'right' and 'wrong' and the saying "history favours the Victor" through using depictions in the media. I'd start with an image without a caption and get students to caption it from one persons perspective, then change the perspective and generate another caption etc. This can enhance critical thinking skills and the values derived form a lesson like this can be transferrable i.e. we can talk about sports issues depicted in the media in the next lesson.

I like the resources on this site because I think I could fit them into a variety of curricular areas as I am introducing students to various aspects of information and media literacy. I would also love to get our sixth grade technology teacher to include digital citizenship as part of his curriculum and the fact that this site provides lesson plans and materials makes it something that might be less threatening to him as his background is more with shop type technology as opposed to computers and online media.
