Ancient Athenian lifestyle was very different to to the modern lifestyle we have today. For instance women in ancient Athens had no right to decide who they were to marry, nor get jobs or vote for a leader. Nowadays, however, women play a crucial part in Athenian society and bear many important decisions.
It is hard to understand just how devoted Athenians were to their gods; they made sacrifices to them daily (especially to Athena, the goddess of reason, intelligence, arts and literature). These sacrifices mainly consisted of the lives of animals such as cows and goats.
