Today's theme was active listening, authentic materials and differentiation. First of all we concentrated on the problems students may encounter during listening. Various solutions were found for different problems . I have observed that in group activities, more ideas are being generated. We discussed the pros and cons of using authentic and textbook listenings. Differentiation was the most useful part I guess. since we have students with individual differences, differentiating the activities according to their needs is a good solution. I didnt get bored during the training sessions. Thank you for student centered and active learning.

Today we concentrated on the Speaking Skill. We identified the common problems we face in our classrooms. I believe in my context it is more appropriate to use group works since I have a crowded classroom. I have learned different web2 tools and I cant wait to use them in my lessons

Today we focused on reading which is the most important Skill for me. I do lots of extensive reading activities in my classes since they attract students more than intensive reading activities. For that, I benefit from flip learning. Students read at home and they share their readings with their friends in reading circles. So that everyone can read according to their interest. However, we didnt talk about extensive/intensive readings, culture literature focus of reading and usage of different readings in our classes. Apart from that, The most valuable thing I learned in this session is that if the focus is not Speaking we can let students share their ideas in L1.
Sometimes I think that we do a lot of group works in the sessions which made me realize that in my own context if I do a lot, my students can have a negative feeling towards group works.

Writing... Why did we allocate only a half day for writing:(( it is actually the most problematic area in Turkey because in our education system, students are rarely assigned with writing tasks and they even have problem with writing in L1. For that reason I find it valuable to turn writing activities into fun activities. I really liked teenenglish website in which student can contexualize their writings. Such activities take the focus from writing to doing the activity. That makes it fun and gives a feeling of achievement of producing. in my own pdc I will definitely concentrate on these tools and the importance of process writing which I believe most of the Turkish teachers do not implement.
By the way, we always keep up with the Schedule, However some classes finish earlier and they finish the cookies when we go to break:(

Today I have realized that even though my classroom is crowded, I mostly present grammar in an inductive way. Both deductive and inductive approach have positive and negative sides but I believe that learning the grammar in a meaningful way encourages learners. Same is valid for teaching vocabulary. Presenting, practising and producing the Target vocabulary in a meaningful context is much better. I am happy that I am learning different webtools and activities which I can use in my own pdc. I like Agi's way of engaging us with the topic and activate our brains.
I wish the trainings would end at 3 p.m everyday. it is really difficult for me to focus all day especially in the afternoon after the second break:(
