The allure of fear is just the hatred of boredom and monotony. People desire stimulation such as excitement, or fear, and life would be boring without experiencing things that make you feel alive. What makes fear great is that it's really accessible, you can't feel the exhilaration of a roller coaster at your house, but you can put on a horror movie with barely any effort.

Humans, sometimes, enjoy getting scared because most scary events happen in a safe matter. Watching a movie, haunted houses, and sky diving all offer safety protocols, protecting the consumer. So, though in the moment something is scary, humans are okay with it because in the back of their head, they already know it's safe. That is also why so few people will persevere in exploration, due to the unknown.

People are drawn to fear because it brings a feeling that no substance or other action can create, and that is adrenaline and cortisol. When we experience a regulated fear, we are able to exude those chemicals which makes the draw of scary movies or roller coasters so much more enthralling. This draw allows for people to push what's comfortable for them and to experience something they wouldn't normally live through in a day to day setting. And the good thing about disposable and solvable fears is that once you get used to it, you attack your next terror.

From personal experience, the allure of fear is the surge of adrenaline that comes from something shocking and unexpected. When life gets too boring, people tend to want something new to spice it up. For some, that is the introduction of the unpredictable (though not against their will): a haunted house where one is unsure what will jump out at them, a horror game that throws sudden jump scares in the most unexpected places. The sudden shock can be enjoyable.

People like to explore fear since it provides excitement in life. As an example, people are scared of tall roller coasters, but feel a rush of excitement when they go on it. This is because tall roller coasters have a lot going on, but are still safe. In this context, people fear the roller coaster because although it is safe, it is still very tall and fast. Fear lets people experience excitement without any dangerous risks.

The allure of fear comes from the adrenaline and dopamine that is experienced during a frightening moment. When people are faced with fear in a situation where they are not truly in danger, it can result in them enjoying the feeling instead of being fearful. When watching a scary movie, you are not actually in danger, just on the edge of your seat and rushed with adrenaline. As a result, the experience is enjoyable, and not negative.

The allure of fear comes from the adrenaline and dopamine rush when experiencing controlled and safe "scary" scenarios. Dopamine and adrenaline cause the brain to have a natural and pleasing high. The brain also knows that there is no real danger, so it allows the rest of the body to enjoy the chemical rush. If people were placed in a scary scenario when they didn't know it was controlled and/or safe, then they would actually be scared and they wouldn't enjoy the experience.

The allure of fear comes from the adrenaline that our body releases when it thinks we are in a dangerous situation. Adrenaline is kind of like a drug, it gives a small "high" when released that is hard to recreate otherwise. This is the reason thrill seekers exist, the people who go on rollercoasters or watch scary movies do it so they can experience the effects of adrenaline while still knowing they are going to be safe. Not everyone likes this though, like when I was watching a horror movie with my friend and he was freaking out the whole time and clearly not enjoying it.
