This disease led to the death of many people which, could be one of the reasons why the Roman Empire fell. The empire fell because of many things but one of the main ways that they died was because of environmental and health problems. The pollution could have made the water dirty so it could be unable to drink. The health problems, such as the disease, could have made many soldiers die, or unable to fight because of their state. In the world today, there is a lot of pollution in the oceans, and the pollution is killing the fish. This goes with Rome because, just like today, there is a lot of pollution because of a high population. Lots of people rely on water sources for food, such as fish, and drinking water. People in Rome relied on water to go through aqueducts, and if the water is polluted, they won't be able to drink the water because they have nothing to clean the water like we have today. According to the video Understand Goal 14 (Primary), it said, "Almost half the planet relies on fish for food, and the omega-3 oils contained in some fish are also great for our bodies."
