         <title>INDIVIDUAL PLAN OF STUDY    </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>September 7, 2016 – 8:30-3:30<br></strong><a href="https://gsmu.essdack.org/public/course/browse?courseid=4920"><strong>Phase I Day 1- Individual Plan of Study "Getting it all Aligned" </strong></a><strong>–</strong> This session will be dedicated to schools who are in Phase I of implementing Individual Plans of Study for all students. Participants will follow the planning phase aligning with the Kansas Comprehensive Counseling Program. As schools and districts work to initiate the change. Schools will: 1. Determining the Need for Change 2. Brainstorm Ideas to Get Organized 3. Assess the Current Program 4. Assess Needs of the School and District. Participants will design a IPS framework that aligns current actions and exposes gaps. This workshop allows time to collaborate and gain ideas from other school districts along with leaving with a skeleton framework to discuss further with school stakeholders. (Look for follow up meetings on calendar) What to bring: Guidance activities (individual and classroom) K-12, Career Activities (timeline of events if you have one), List of opportunities student have for College and Career. (We will brainstorm and share ideas) Audience: Professional School Counselors, Administrators, College &amp; Career Directors, any personnel who will be vested in the IPS initiative.<br><br><strong>October 5, 2016–- 8:30-11:30 <br></strong><a href="https://gsmu.essdack.org/public/course/browse?courseid=4957"><strong>Individual Plan of Study- Staff, parent &amp; community engagement&nbsp;</strong></a></div><div>How to get staff vested in an IPS for every student. Supply tools and resources and coach staff on how to have individual IPS conversations with students providing commitment and uniformity of the process for every student.&nbsp; Parent and community engagement resources. How do we communicate the intention of an individual plan of study to stakeholders?</div><div><br><strong>October 10 ,2016 – 8:30-11:30 (moved to the December 7th date) see below</strong></div><div><a href="https://gsmu.essdack.org/public/course/browse?courseid=4961"><strong>Using Student Data reporting to guide IPS implementation&nbsp;</strong></a></div><div>Create methods for monitoring the effectiveness of the IPS process by using student data such as attendance data, postsecondary outcome data, data on the effectiveness of targeted supports, student surveys on satisfaction with the process, and educator and parent/family satisfaction surveys.&nbsp; The online system chosen by the district may also generate a variety of reports both individually and in the aggregate that may be used to monitor the effectiveness of IPS implementation.&nbsp; &nbsp; i.e. (National Student Clearinghouse, SEEK,&nbsp; Gallup Poll)<br><br><strong>October 24, 2016</strong> –<strong> 8:30-3:30 <br></strong><a href="https://gsmu.essdack.org/public/course/browse?courseid=4922"><strong>Phase I Day 2&nbsp;</strong>–&nbsp;<strong>Individual Plan of Study "Getting it all Aligned"&nbsp;</strong></a></div><div>Schools who attended Day 1 will return with their alignment and will map to Guidance and SECD standards along with the 5 R’s (Relationships, Relevance, Responsive Culture, Rigor, Results). Afternoon session will be reserved for schools who want to continue to work on alignment and planning Support will be provided along with questions regarding Career Cruising if needed.<br><br><strong>November 3, 2016 - 8:30-11:30 <br></strong><a href="https://gsmu.essdack.org/public/course/browse?courseid=4956"><strong>IPS - Implementation Best Practices/ Role of District and School Leadership</strong></a></div><div>Items that will be discuss:&nbsp; Establish district and school level leadership teams with key stakeholders (e.g., counselors, teachers, special education personnel, ELL personnel, community representation) who can clearly articulate the goals of IPS implementation.&nbsp; Establish procedures for regular communication between school and parent/guardian including student-led parent/teacher conferences. Identify and document key adults who will share responsibility for action items to support implementation of student plans. Create a systematic process and time in student, staff, and school schedules for every student and school mentor to develop, review, and update the IPS on a regular basis. New users to Career Cruising should plan to attend all day. "Veteran" users may only want to attend the PM session. The target audience for this training includes counselors and other key staff who will drive the use of Career Cruising as an effective IPS platform.
