I really liked the CESA mentor log because of the simplicity but also the concrete things to give direction to the mentoring.
*What's working: Helping a teacher to focus on the good things they are doing that are working well sets them up to see that they ARE doing well (especially in that disillusionment phase!)
*Current Focus: helps the teacher to see an area of growth they are currently focusing on. This gives a specific area so the teacher doesn't get overwhelmed with all of the things they need to get better at.
*Teacher's next steps: gives the teacher practical and concrete things to do to work on their current focus-I would help them brainstorm these things to make sure they were doable and attainable
*Mentor's next steps: This shows that I care about their well-being as well. This could be a number of things--observations of the teacher, doing research of best practices, or just daily check-ins even.

I use a coaching log in my role now. It’s incredibly important to me for keeping data and looking for trends with the work I do with teachers. Also, it allows me to use data and facts about things instead of just guessing or making generalizations.

I liked the mentor log example which named the different areas of focus right across the top (analyzing student work, communication with parents, etc.) I’m thinking about how I can add these ideas into my current log. I like the language used around “What’s working - current challenges - teacher next steps and mentor next steps” . I think the time spent documenting the work is very important to be reflective at the end of the year.

I am very excited to be building my mentor procedures and program.
After looking after all the different mentor logs, I really like the CESA log. I feel the CESA log collects the most information but it also keeps the teacher and the mentor accountable for actions. It also set goals for the teacher and the mentor to work on for next meeting.
FPS mentoring log is very simple and easy log to follow. I do like that there is a place for document observations and have those in the logs as well.
The outagamie county mentor log is great for when mentor students but I do think you could change it a little to mentor a teacher. When looking at the different activity codes, we could adjust codes to fit when the mentor is observing the teacher. "Aca" could represent how the teacher is teaching academic curriculum. With "adv", we could look at the teachers classroom management skills. Also, we can add different codes to evaluate the teacher.

I am very excited to create my mentor program and procedures and create a mentor log using these different examples.

I really liked the CESA log because it was simple yet easy to read. It has a section for "What's working" which focuses on the mentee's successes/ accomplishments. Then it talks about where they could improve. I also like how it gives a place for the "Mentor's Next Steps." This helps the mentee show that they are in this together and that he/she isn't alone. I also liked how on the bottom they have a section for the future. It gives both parties what the conversation will focus on next time. It give both the mentor and mentee something to focus/work on before the next meeting.
I also would like to incorporate aspects from the FPS form. I would like to add to the CESA form a place for length of meeting and a place to record notes from observations.
