Andrew Yang believes that one way to boost the economy is to increase the size of the labor force - the percentage of those above 16 who are either employed or actively searching for a job. As a teenager who recently got a job, I would have to agree.

I got my job last summer at WHOI after volunteering for several months. Although I don't make a lot of money, everyone I work with is very friendly and understands that I have to balance my job and school. I started working over the summer and found that it was actually more manageable than I thought so we decided to continue it during the school year.

During the school year, it has been hard to keep up at times as I am taking a lot of AP courses. Despite this, getting to do real work has been a rewarding experience. Joining the labor force is truly a powerful American experience.

I think it is very beneficial for teenagers to be employed because from personal experience I've always worked for example at a barn since I was 13 and getting another job at 14. Sometimes it can be too much but not only are you making your own income that you can spend yourself but it also helps you to feel like your contributing more to society.

I do think it's extremely beneficial because it teaches teens customer service skills and what it means to work to support yourself (even in a very small-scale way). I learned customer service and how to communicate in higher-stress situations as a result of working in the food/restaurant industry since 14. Although it can be acknowledged that working jobs as teens (especially girls) can be dangerous in many ways, that's why we should always try to build safe work environments.

This summer, I had 2 jobs and worked everyday all day and am still working 15-20 hours a weekend. It was a struggle and a force but at the end of the summer, I was happy with where I ended up. I learned a lot about my character and how I am a hard worker in busy working conditions. I also felt accomplished with myself that I managed to pull through.

I do think it can be very beneficial. When I worked during the summer it not only gave me money but gave me a welcoming environment where I made a lot of friends and had fun. However sometimes during the school it can feel too much for example I dance and play volleyball every day and on top of homework every night, working would be too overwhelming.

I think it is important for teenagers to learn the skills to being employed and having an employer. I worked at Devour (a restaurant) this summer and I find it extremely beneficial to understand the skills of costumer service, managing money and learning how to get along with your coworkers and employers. However, during the school year it can be a lot on top of school work

I think it is beneficial for teenagers to be employed because it introduces kids to what it looks like to have requirements outside of school.

It is beneficial for teenagers to be employed if they are not put under extreme stress. Teenagers have a lot of their plate as it is and don't need an additional load of stress. That being said, it can be very beneficial and enjoyable to work with others and make money. This summer I worked as a lifeguard and had the best times at the pool I worked at. I made good friends that I continue to keep in touch with and also made money.

Two summers ago, I worked at a restaurant where I hostessed and while it was a decent job, there were a lot of days where we were short staffed or everything wasn't organized exactly as it should've been. So we had to work together to try to make it work, there were even a few days that I hostessed and bussed at the same time which was quite stressful, but it turned out ok in the end and what I found is that running a business is definitely not as simple as it seems and now after working I have much more sympathy for people working in customer service

I worked a lot this summer and I continue to work throughout the year but the owners and workers are all extremely understanding that I have school and they want to help out in any way that they can. I was working almost everyday during the summer and although I didn't have a lot of free time, I think that I learned a lot of life skills that I continue to use. I think that it's important for everyone to have a job because they learn how to deal with the public and they are presented with problems that could happen sometime throughout their life.
