As a teenager who recently got a job, I would have to agree.

I got my job last summer at WHOI after volunteering for several months. Although I don't make a lot of money, everyone I work with is very friendly and understands that I have to balance my job and school. I started working over the summer and found that it was actually more manageable than I thought so we decided to continue it during the school year.

During the school year, it has been hard to keep up at times as I am taking a lot of AP courses. Despite this, getting to do real work has been a rewarding experience. I babysat this summer 2-3 times a week all-day. The kids were involved in many activities such as sailing and hockey so I had some time off when they went to these. I worked a lot this summer and I continue to work throughout the year but the owners and workers are all extremely understanding that I have school and they want to help out in any way that they can.
