         <title>History of Freedom of Speech </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This right dates back to ancient Greece, they introduced it as a democratic principal. "Parrhesia" is an ancient Greece word that means "free speech" or "to speak candidly". This word was a prominent part of democracy. Philosophers, leaders, and everyday citizens were allowed to openly talk about religion and politics. <br>1798: John Adams advocated for the passage of the Alien and Sedation acts. This was pointed more towards people who supported Thomas Jefferson in restricting the ability to criticize the President. <br>1873: The federal allowed the post office to have the power to censor mail that is suspicious.<br>1918: The sedation act enforces that anyone found guilty of essentially disrespecting the Unite States government, military, and constitution. <br>1958: Isiah Berlin identified two concepts of liberty.<br>1971:The Washington post began writing pentagon papers.<br>1996: Congress passed the Communications Decency Act.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Texas vs. Johnson: Johnson was arrested for burning the American flag but it was protected under his first amendment right which includes symbolic speech.<br>Chaplinksy Vs. The United States: Walter Chaplinksy was handing out literature that supported his beliefs as a Jehovah's witness, which also attacked multiple religions. He was arrested and convicted of intentionally offensive speech. He argued his first amendment right and that his actions were overly vague.<br>Tinker Vs. De moines: A group of students was suspended for wearing black arm bands protesting the Vietnam war. The ruling was in favor of the school<br>Miller Vs. California: Miller conducted a mass mailing campaign with adult material.</div>]]></description>
